Why mourn over the departed? I can see why some people would want to see some humour at their gravesides...

It was the vet's wishes and he got his desired send off, judging from the reactions in the video :-)...

He sounded like a fun loving, family man...

I had a friend who wanted them to play "Drop Kick Me Jesus" by Bobby Bare at his funeral.

I could see that happening! The mourners leave the church singing..."Drop kick me Jesus through the goal posts of life...end over end neither left nor the right..."

I love people with a sense of humor!

Beautiful celebration of a life well lived and loved. Our family loved this. There’s one thing in life that happens with 100% certainty, death. Might a well embrace it and help others have great lasting memories.

That was funny as he must have been in on making this recording prior to death. What a great sense of humor if he did.

Victor French (Highway to Heaven, Little House on the Prairie) was a funeral prankster.

Excerpt from an interview:

Melissa Parker (Smashing Interviews Magazine): Wasn’t Victor French quite the prankster until literally right up until the end?

Charlotte Stewart: Yes, he was. He was great! He was just one of the most charming and funny men and had such a good heart. He was really suffering from his breakup with Julie Cobb. His marriage had broken up. It was kind of comfort time. It was very nice and very sweet. But none of us were expecting that to happen at his funeral. His attorney said, “And now a message from Victor.” We all looked up in the sky, and there’s this plane going over us with the message, “Eat Shit – Love, Victor.” (laughs) He planned all of that.

Victor met with his attorney and listed everyone he wanted to be invited to his funeral service. It was held at the Gene Autry Museum in Griffith Park. It’s basically a cowboy museum, and its open air. He knew exactly what he was doing. We just got the biggest kick out of it. I was standing with Michael Landon as this was happening. Of course, there were no cellphones back then. There was one pay phone on the patio, and I think all of us rushed to it to try to call somebody and say, “Look in the sky!” I loved Victor so much.

If the departed lived a good life. Yes of course.

Life is short though and we sometimes have to find the "good" times in our lives...to try to make the most of it and appreciate what we have...

I live my life in pain also, sometimes on a daily basis but I still wouldn't want my loved ones/friends etc mourning my departure... I try to live it the best I can even in pain... I do have my down days but I also want to create nice memories...

We all experience the "bad" times and painful times in life at some point, wether we were born into pain or not...

Life is to experience the ugly and the nice no matter who we are...

Part of me wants to become a ventriloquist to do something like this except I'd add.

"You assholes didn't think I was all that good. Well look at me now I'm throwing my voice through time. Have fun next week when the thing happens! I'll be waiting for you."

Of course I wouldn't last long as a person able to throw voices where they didn't belong. I'm too prankster for my own good sometimes.

It was the wishes of the old vet himself that he had this send off...it was his voice recorded so he had preplanned it...
