50/50 chance of good recovery. The knee will be fine after recovery period but that’s not the issue. It’s all the friken nerve endings that 50/50 part.

The docs don’t know what the fuck is going on. With the nerves, I don’t want to scare ya but it’s been 5 years since I had knee operation (not replacement) and I’m still limping around sometimes in pain and I can no longer climb ladders like before.

My dad has had three over the last 20 years, his last surgery was for an infection from the third generation knee replacement. I have heard a lot of people say not to do them, and I can say my dad still can’t walk any better and has constant problem.

If its arthitis, you can cure that without surgery.

I had my knee replaced a year ago this month. Great results so far. I have no pain and my mobility is much better than prior. My procedure was Mako robotic assisted, which is very accurate and aids in the recovery and rehab time.

They get you up and walking with a walker a few hours after the procedure. Expect an overnight stay. Home rehab starts right away. The first two weeks is challenging with the pain and exercises. At three weeks or so I started PT 3x week and continued for 3 months. 3 months to the day I was back at work.

I wish I could offer personal experience but I cannot, my surgeries must wait until after the new year.

You have many here that can and will be happy to be a kind ear, hear you out, and offer encouragement as we can.

Had mine done 3 years ago; went from limping horribly and requiring a cane to walking like a normal person; I walk a minimum of 12,000 steps a day now and feel so much healthier overall, not just my knee.

Mine was done due to old sports injuries and arthritis; they said I was too young to get a replacement, and it took me 3 years to convince the doctors that it should be done in spite of having to have surgery again when I’m older (I guess they replaced knees only last so long, but being unable to walk now made no sense and was just going to make me much more ill as I got older).

Do all the rehab exercises that they say; get up on it as soon as you can. It really helps.

I'm just not happy today....but I'll pull up my boot straps tomorrow morning when I get out of bed, and I'll move forward.

Lovey, I've seen the pictures. There's bone on bone. I have sever arthritis in everything from my waist down. I already take good supplements for the arthritis, and it works pretty good, but my knee is bone on bone, and my insurance company is being dumbasses. My insurance has refused the gel injections the doctor ordered.

My ortho guy told me he only had so much hope that the gel injections would help me, but he wanted to try. He said they only work for about six months anyway, and they'd have to be repeated, but that they could be repeated.

He then said, rather acerbically, they don't want to pay for a $1,000 procedure, fine, they can pay for a $45,000 procedure.

The dumbasses. The mother fuckers. I'm pissed.

My dad needs to have one, but he's trying to prolong it as long as he can. He's getting cortisone shots to buy him some time. Maybe something like that could help? Wish you all the best and hope your pain subsides whatever you decide

Take heart. There is a very high probability you will be pain free and have increased mobility.

You must do the physical therapy after the surgery though, or you will not thrive.

lol that is holiday season they aint even doin surgerys on those dates!

Im 42 and just broke my knee in a motorcycle crash 5 months ago now and its already 85% back to normal . The other 15% is gonna be a bitch that will take time to correct but I believe I will be back to 95% ATLEAST when its all said and done .


What Im saying is it all depends on genetics . If you got good genes and heal well youll be fine . If not then you're gonna have a bad time MmKayyy ...

Before you have surgery, read about this colloidal copper lotion and maybe be convinced to try it on your knee for a few weeks. Every joint pain I have had goes away after using it. I’m convinced that copper helps heal joints.

I doubt if elective surgery is ever scheduled on weekends, but sometimes it will be scheduled close to a holiday, such as December 26th and 27th so the patient doesn't have to take time off from work.

So sorry to hear that, CG. I do not have any experience with that, but I send you my prayers. You have a special place in my heart.
