Riots everywhere, this time in Chile after a tax increase, subway tickets are now more expensive and it seems that this was the straw that broke the camel's back. The State of Emergency has been declared by the government and the Military will deploy in Santiago de Chile. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 75770069 They only fall in movies and on 9/11. but did you see the building under construction in New Orleans that started to pancake when a crane dropped a small load? Some GLPers blamed non-union or illegal alien labour, but it looked to me like piss-poor engineering. |

Chilians don't mess around... wow. It's not just Chile. South America is, in general, a far more wild, untamed place than the U.S. (I've spent a lot of time in both.) In 2008, a train going from a suburb of Buenos Aires into the city was delayed, and Argentinians were so pissed off that they SET IT ON FIRE. And that wasn't the first time, either. |

I cringe at the comfortable middle class which has allowed all of the atrocities to happen. I look forward to whatever it is that YHWH decides to use to wake them up and give them a chance to stop being materialistic and shallow. It was the sons of the middle class that faced a draft in the 60's. If there would have been no draft, there would have been no demonstrations. The comfortable life was threatened. Will it take another draft to make these youngsters less comfortable? a crash? both? |

I thought it was ceiling tiles or plywood until it hit the ground. Were people riding them down? I mean you would do some desperate stuff when you are close to burning to death. Banned often |

I loved the people, subways & mass transit , the entertainment, parks etc. - the only big down side was geographical - the surrounding mountain kept in the polluted air especially in the winter (Like summer smog in big city USA). Jump on a bus heading north or south solves that problem. When it gets really dangerously polluted, they enforce no drive alternate days depending on licence plate # even or odd ? I think people go nuts when the air quality is low. Here in Wilmington,De USA a combinaton of a full moon and high ozone produced a number of shootings /murders on one long weekend. The full moon started last Sunday night so the natives have probably calmed down by now. Sorry to hear Chile's president Pinera announced he is not running for a third term. The global economy is in turmoil but people don't want to hear that. Classiccom1953 |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 75770069 Its a southern hemisphere thing, you all wouldnt understand. sarc/ They don't pre-saw the beams and add demolition charges to every floor like ours do. The dangerous area started when global government corruption became so prevailing and oppressive that it broke the camel's back. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77304979 They do appear to be trying to get everything going they can, but people are finding out and one thing about foriegners, they will kill people in it and some of them badly. Meanwhile we will still be waiting for arrests..... "Science without religion is lame; religion without science is blind" Covid, fake riots, communist organizers - keep your powder dry America. This was not the disease or the riots, those both are still on down the line. Garden garden grow spices and medical plants too. He wouldn't even have option to run again for another 6 years because there are about 2 years left on his current 4 year term Santiago is ok...for shopping and short trips, but the best place to live is in the countryside of chile. |
