User ID: 75847879 United States 10/20/2019 12:53 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | This all started with protests organized through “social media” against a price hike in the Santiago’s subway rate. A few hours later things scalated to the intentional burning of the corporate building of one of the major electric companies (electric rates also were hiked), looting in supermarkets, pharmacies, even car dealerships, and the president decreed state of emergency and put the public order in hands of military and the curfew just started. Quoting: Red Hot Chilean Pepe No one saw it coming. It all started when Chile - being a small country with only 16 million inhabitants- had to receive over 300 thousand illegals from Haiti , and over 400 thousands Venezuelans and Colombians in only a four year span. At the same time copper price , its main export, fell almost fifty percent. That and corrupt politicians, Perfect storm. The Thankfully we have plenty of blacks and indians to blame it on. Fixed that for you. . "Don't do anything that affects anything. Unless it turns out you were supposed to do it, in which case for the love of God. Don't not do it!" |

User ID: 77842361 United States 10/20/2019 05:20 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | [link to en.wikipedia.org (secure)] The Santiago Metro (Spanish: Metro de Santiago) is the rapid transit network serving the city of Santiago, Chile. It currently has seven lines, 136 stations, and 140 kilometres (87.0 mi) of revenue route.[1] This service is managed by the state-owned Metro S.A. and is the first of four urban railway systems in Chile, along with the Biotrén of Concepción (1999), Merval of Valparaíso (2005) and inter-urban Metrotrén service (2017). The Santiago Metro carries around 2.5 million passengers daily. This figure represents an increase of more than a million passengers per day compared to 2007, when the ambitious Transantiago project was launched, in which the metro plays an important role in the public transport system serving the city. Its highest passenger peak was reached on 31 October 2012, reaching 2,780,666 passengers.[citation needed] In June 2017 the government announced plans for the construction of Line 7, connecting Renca in the northwest of Santiago with Vitacura in the northeast. The new line will add 24.8 kilometers and 21 new stations to the Metro network, running along the municipalities of Renca, Cerro Navia, Quinta Normal, Santiago, Providencia, Las Condes and Vitacura. Its cost has been initially estimated at US$2.53 bn and it is projected to open in 2025.[5] In March 2012, the Santiago Metro was chosen as the best underground system in the Americas, after being honoured at the annual reception held by Metro Rail in London.[6] Last Edited by {/Mutariel\} on 10/20/2019 05:20 AM |

I went to bed late and I have been pulling all nighters all past week so I am really tired, and now depressed with the situation. This happened so quickly and so violently it’s kind of hard to come to terms with. All great truths begin as Blasphemies. G.B.S. GLP is like a diamond mine of information, in the sense that you have to shovel mountains of crap to find the diamonds, but it's still worth the pain. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 76869839 United States 10/20/2019 02:43 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Santiago always has military on the streets. It's a crazy place. That's how they keep people from smash and grabs. I was shocked when I was there. Full auto guns with the round magazines in front of every nice store. I don't mean to lessen what is happening there. It looks terrible in the photos. Those guys can clamp down in an instant. Latinos in big cities have two sides to them. One is calm and peaceful and the other is emotionally unstable, unhinged. The world is burning down. |
