Cannabis has little effect on violent crime and property crime - study refutes KCPD Police Chief
Some people don’t realize the connection marijuana has to violent crime.

A study by researchers at several universities finds that crime statistics haven’t changed much in two U.S. states that legalized recreational marijuana use and sales. Put simply, these models further suggest that marijuana legalization has not statistical significantly affected serious crime in Washington or Colorado.

The results revealed no statistically significant, long-term positive effects of recreational cannabis laws on violent and property crime rates in either state. They did, however, find a reduction in burglaries in Washington, but overall the results suggest that marijuana legalization has had minimal effect on major crimes in the two states.

Cannabis community refutes KCPD claim that marijuana leads to violent crime

MYTH: Crime will increase if marijuana is legalized.

FACT: In concert with recent research results from Makin et al. (2019). Our results from Colorado and Washington suggest that legalization has not had major detrimental effects on public safety. They did find a reduction in burglaries in Washington.

ohyeah
