I noticed how each one of you outlined exactly why the one crane didn't fall as planned.

I then was amazed at the solutions provided that would have negated such a scenario that unfolded in that video!

This was NOT a case of, "Premature Explosion". This WAS a case of what happens when you hire based on 'Gender', 'Diversity', if you're one of the 'Alphabet People', rather than hiring by Merit, Experience and Knowledge.

They detonated all the charges with in milliseconds of each other. The cutting charges sheared the tower legs closest to the hotel. The shearing charges severed the upper tension members of the hoist boom on each side to the tower allowing the, now free to rotate, boom arms to collapse against the tower, in the mistaken thinking that the entire crane structure would fall in toward the hotel.

For what ever reason, no one thought about the large balancing mass located at the end of the now rotating boom arm. With the Tower legs cut, this allowed the angular momentum of the freed mass to 'yank' the falling tower back toward Rampart St.

The correct course of action would have been, and if you've ever spent an after noon watching buildings being collapsed on the YouTUBE you know of what I speak, to stagger the cutting charges in such a way that the boom is cut first, then, just as the balancing mass is about to reach the bottom of its arc, you fire the tower leg cutting charges and use the balancing mass's momentum to finish what you'd started.

Of course I'd have just hired a pair of large boom cranes attache to the damaged construction crane, stabilize it and then hustle the workers to jack it down just as they would have at the end of the job. Simple.

Ah but this was all about who pays, if the Contractor had hired the cranes, it would have been all on his insurance if something failed, hire a demo team, and it's their insurance that pays. QED

The builder was forced to give FIVE MILLION dollars to ??? before the demo was allowed to begin. That is why it didn't happen Saturday, the payment was late and the demo pushed back to Sunday.
