4th Death in North Carolina Legionnaire's Disease Outbreak

Most people who get Pneumonia get Viral Pneumonia.

Legionnaire's disease is nothing more then Bacteria Pneumonia.

I got it in the 1980 right after the original Legionnaire's disease that it is named for happened. It almost killed me. Really nasty stuff. My temperature went up so high I was hallucinating. But luckily just some anti-biotics cured it very fast.

The way you get it is when water stands for a long period somewhere. That is when the bacteria builds up. The way I got it was the winter was over and it was a nice day and I decided to wash my truck. The water hose had been sitting out all winter long.

When I turned on the water the water that had been standing in the hose all winter long came out and some of it was in the for of a mist from the nossle I was using. I breathed in the mist which gave me Legionnaire's disease. In less then 30 minutes after breathing it in I had a fever so high I was hallucinating.

Wow! That's crazy. I have heard that people with spa tub's in their bathrooms have to be very careful of it for the same reason. Most people want spa tubs but rarely use them. The water sits in the tubes and builds up bacteria.

I went to the fair that this outbreak happened at and saw the hottub display that they think it came from.

I know someone who had an anti abortion booth right in the area. She didn’t get sick but knew some who did.
