Anonymous Coward User ID: 77765210 United States 10/21/2019 10:27 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I find these responses fascinating! All women are not the same and surely different women have different *reasons* for dressing as they do. From a 45 year old very happily married professionally employed (full time) mom (to a 16 year-old female) who is sending this response from my desk as I don my favorite pair of yoga pants, I'd like to offer my truth, fwiw. *Attention* or *validation* or anything approaching the like have NEVER crossed my mind when I'm dressing for ANY occasion. I am terribly shy and actually go out of my way to avoid any type of attention outside that of my husband. So the generalized claim that women wearing yoga pants are looking for male attention just couldn't be further from my truth. As someone already noted, yoga pants are cheaper than dress pants... My favorite dress pants cost $210 + tax and require ironing (which I don't mind, but I don't necessarily LOVE to do). The Old Navy yoga's I wear now cost $15 + tax and are wash and wear (no ironing)... that is nearly $200 that I can spend much more meaningfully (read: FAMILY things) and, I am much more comfortable physically - I'm presently sitting Indian style, which would leave dress pants all wrinkled and disheveled. My yoga pants do not wrinkle and look just the same when I leave the office in the afternoon as they did when I arrived regardless of the activities in which I'm engaged any given day. My tops cover my behind. No one is seeing ANYTHING like has been suggested in previous responses in this thread...and I do wonder if that might be the true reason these yoga pant threads keep recurring (and I keep reading them!!!) Question: are those of you who seem to be offended by yoga pants able to make any allowances of consideration, a difference between someone who is wearing them with a midriff and someone who is wearing them with a professional (read: nice/dressy/tailored) top which covers both the front and backside of our most personal parts, or are we yoga pant wearers destined to forever be attention seeking ho's in your minds? |

OP here Tbe problem is that most women in public are NOT wearing an oversized top to hang over and coved the buttocks and crotch At least not the younger ones |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 2876001 United States 10/21/2019 10:53 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I am not sure why people call them yoga pants. I wear loose fitting pants to yoga class and most of the people in the class do as well. Leggings are probably what you are talking about. I never wear them to yoga-too constrictive on movement. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77978086 yeah I think these dumbasses are referring to Leggings. Yoga is 1980s mostly |

Yoga is 1980s mostly I am using the term yoga pants because that is what they are generally associated witb today This all startdd back in the late 80s with coeds on college campuses wearing black tights with an oversized sweatshirt when going to class, often the sweatshirt had the name of university or her sorority letters on it. It was a subtle form of teasing. It went away for a while, but in past few years you now see everybody from college students to soccer moms wearing tights with a tank top going out and about, similar to what is worn to yoga class. Nothing left to tease. Ause its all out there in broad daylight. |
