This virus is a very hearty one that can live outside of the host for quite some time and can live on clothes, and in the feed, it can live on the surface of cages used to transport hogs also.

Hi OP. I've been contracting to a company called JBS for a few years now, who own and control most of the world's meat 'growing', management, production, transport, shipping, processing, and on selling - especially pork.

This has been coming for a while now, and you'd be surprised at just how much bacon, pork and small goods are processed around the world at any given moment. It's actually mind blowing seeing it all work.

ASF has been on meat/small goods producers radar for a few years after refugees, whose only real asset were pigs, brought it in to Europe, infecting and resulting in the destruction of so many pigs. The same has occurred in China with less stringent import checks. China is the biggest consumer of pork products.

I know these poor animals get bred, killed and eaten by us anyway, but this is a sad end to so many millions of them managing risk. Just risk. One infected, kill the lot.

So JBS has been quietly buying up and ensuring supply for all it's subsidiaries, one of whom I do a lot of packaging and design for. It's huge money, and the bigger picture, the lack of alternative sourcing, means less availability, which means prices will soar. The rep's for this business have been gently advising this will be the case for a while now. The giant supermarket chains aren't happy and are bracing for a consumer backlash.

But China has been caught out, and expects to buy their way out to meet consumer demand. But contractually, they wont be able to do it. So what will be their solution? Eat infected pigs? or possibly infected pigs?

We're pretty closely related, genetically to pigs.

Particularly the pleasures of eating as we choose, or nearly so, and staying warm though it's chilly and wet outside, having no starving hordes coming up the street, and living indoors - one of my favorite habits.

In many cases next year's seed stocks were flooded and ruined since they were already on hand on the farms. I'd be surprised if more than a few farmers would have decent seeds to plant in spring - it will be GMO all the way as they laugh to the bank.

Better count on several years of extreme shortages, since we are in a time of gross weather abnormalities and the ice age having begun.
