Re: Large Asteroid Flying By Earth Today, Should I Stream It?
"162082 (1998 HL1), a potentially hazardous asteroid (PHA) nearly twice as wide as the Empire State Building is tall, will swing just 16.2 lunar distances from Earth around 17:00 UT on Friday, October 25th. While a "potentially hazardous" designation means that the asteroid's orbit can cross Earth's, there's no need to bite your fingernails this time around, as the object will miss Earth by a good 6.2 million kilometers (4 million miles)."

So it's flying by earth today, making closest approach about 1 pm eastern today. I can track it and stream it tonight if the weather allows (no guarantees there, but clear sky clock says it will be clear until shortly after midnight), but it's not a super close approach anyway. It's fairly large, somewhere around half a kilometer to a kilometer in diameter, so it will be easily bright enough for my scope to see. Question is whether you guys and gals would be interested in seeing it if I can stream it. Worth my time and yours, or should I skip it?

more to come.

Seems reasonable to start streaming when u have time.

I bet over time we will start seeing more, larger sizes and most exciting groups or clusters.

Whatever the term is. When we start seeing these, I bet we are in for some troubled times.
