The shooter only poses a threat to you if you’re in a rival gang or are in between him and rival gangbangers, so just stay away from gangstas and you’re not in any danger. Agree. Had a gang related gun battle break out right over the hood of my car about 6 years ago, three on one side - two on the other of the hood (plus about 10 other around all shooting at each other). Those guys weren't interested in ME, the White Guy, driving the car that they were shooting across or around, they were ONLY interested in hitting the other gang person 20 - 30 feet or so away. I was NOT worried about them trying so shoot ME ... the BIG risk for me was that one of those on the losing side of the gun battle would want my car to get away, so I shoved in into reverse and did a PERFECT movie style "floor it in reverse on a narrow windy street maneuver". To this day I can't figure out how I missed the cars on both sides of the street as I was backing up with the car floored in reverse on a windy narrow street, but I did. fwiw ... it took the police more than 25 minutes to show up after I called it in. I realized the police are not fools ... they didn't want to show up to a REAL gun battle! They wanted ALL the perps to have a chance to get away!! (so all they would have to do is put flags in the ground and pick up shell casings) (oh ... and the shoters were all such bad shots nobody was actually hit with the hundred to two hundred shots that were fired!! - it really was quite the gun battle!! - would have been more exciting to watch from 100 feet away than it was from 4 and 8 feet away) |
