I had an elderly neighbor give me a whole new perspective on aging when I complained to him about me turning 40. He invited me to go with him that Sunday when he visited his deceased wife's grave site in a local cemetery. After paying our respects he asked me to walk around a bit with him. He began pointing out ages on grave markers to me...many, many...waaay too many had passed well before the 40 year mark I was complaining about. He didn't remind me about my earlier remarks lamenting being 40 years old. He didn't have to. The reality of it had sunk in quickly. Having birthdays beats the living hell out of the alternative!!! Again, Happy Birthday!!! And ENJOY!!! |

She didn't have to work because she already had 2 retirement checks coming in. I swear she stayed there just to give us lessons like your neighbor gave you.
