Years ago my ex went nuts. REALLY certifiable. I left one morning to go to work and literally screamed the first ten minutes I was in the car. No one could hear me. We were way out in the country. I kept begging God to remove him from my life. Get him out. etc.

When I got to work he called me from jail. He had started shit with neighbors and the local cops threw the book at him. His bond was 45k. I had four months to find an apt. and get the f. out. Unfortunately, it was another year or two before he was killed. He stalked the hell out of me to the point where I had to leave my apt. and find another place to stay that he'd never seen or heard of. It was terrifying. Every time I walked to the store i was afraid he was going to see me.

Once somebody goes bat shit and thinks they are the messiah, it's nothing but trouble. He thought his own son and I were being used by Jesuits to document his every move because we went to Loyola. Insane.

I agree - never blame or accuse a narcissist of anything. Don't argue, don't raise your voice, don't cry or be vulnerable either. Nothing will work but getting them out of your life..... for good. I like the idea of blaming yourself - they will be quick to join in. Once they are out of your physical space, you need to go no contact and get a restraining order if need be.

No shame in getting a restraining order if you feel threatened.
