The problem is there is not enough affordable housing or government housing in this town. There is nowhere for anyone to go for a roof over their head. I’ve been on the waiting list for five years now. One of the news channels reported last night that they’re referring homeless people to agencies… That doesn’t help because there are no places. All they will be doing is being put on a list like I am on and waiting. They don’t have a roof over their head to wait under. All of these people were homeless here before, the problem is that our society sweeps a problem under the rug and has themLiving out in the woods where it is very dangerous. By allowing camping in town, people get to see what a big problem homelessness is even in a very successful city like Austin. People want to complain about the optics without proposing a solution to the problem. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 49598504 you believe we don't see through this? Repeating from an earlier post, one of the goals you have is to make President Trump look bad. of course you want the homeless on parade! They make great photo ops and promote socialism. The solution to homelessness is within each homeless person. Society cannot provide it. They do not wish it. Ask me how I know. Liberalism is totalitarianism with a human face – Thomas Sowell |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 73750027 United States 11/05/2019 12:54 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I live in the DFW metroplex. All the towns around me are so pretty. The medians are planted with Hill Country wildflowers and exotic xeroscape plants. One town has every Crepe Myrtle imaginable in it’s medians. Streets are wide and curvy. Horses in the middle of town in big pastures. I love it. It’s even pretty under the trees because of the blossoms falling. Quoting: Fossy And the people are so nice. I didn’t think any place was as pretty as the Ozarks but we have creeks everywhere and they are lined with white rock. Man! It’s pretty. There is a lot of variety for you to see within Texas boundaries and in different seasons. From DFW, you can also get to The Oachita National Forest and the Talimena Scenic Byway in OK and AR in a 5-hour drive. Go north in October, east in November, east and southeast in April and March, far south in March, and more. Big Bend National Park is a good place to go in March before the wall gets built along the Rio Grande. We do need the wall but it will mess up Big Bend a bit. You can always see illegals and border patrol in the area. People I know once had to hide down low in the hot springs when drug cartel members were crossing the Rio Grand with military weapons. |

You ain't seen nothing yet! User ID: 78083070 United States 11/05/2019 01:54 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Gov. Abbott tweeted his intentions. Quoting: beeches Conditions in Austin are intolerable after city officials made it legal to camp in the city earlier this year. his message: Today is a day of action. We began posting notices that TxDOT will clean up homeless camps under highways in Austin starting Monday. Safety will improve soon. The homeless will be offered options for shelter, food, clothing & healthcare. [link to twitter.com (secure)] State police strictly enforcing the laws in Austin would have the libs run off in less than a year. Kamala Harris is not a Natural Born Citizen. She's illegally running. Used by the Founders... Book I of The Law of Nations, Chapter XIX, § 212 (Joseph Chitty numbering) – “Citizens and natives” reads: 'The citizens are the members of the civil society; bound to this society by certain duties, and subject to its authority, they equally participate in its advantages. The natives, or natural-born citizens, are those born in the country, of parents who are citizens. As the society cannot exist and perpetuate itself otherwise than by the children of the citizens, those children naturally follow the condition of their fathers, and succeed to all their rights.' 1758 Emerich de Vattel Oh' What the Hell, do I look like I want to die in some nursing home one day... America must have 4 new Constitutional Amendments... 1. Drug Tests and Mental Evaluations on all politicians and judges randomly five times per year. 2. Term Limits for Federal politicians and judges. 3. Mental and health standards for Supreme Court Justices and retirement age set. 4. A 'Star Chamber' of elected Natural Born Citizens (no attorney's) to ivestigate, try, and prosecute the politicians and government employee's as they see fit. Mandatory death penalty by public hanging is the merciful sentence for pedos and their associates. Democrats are a WMD, literally. Let Justice Be Done Though The Heavens Fall. |

Rich foreigners don't want to look at bums. Austin (COTA) only has the F1 contract until 2021 and then places like Miami may get the contract. They are desperate to keep F1 in Austin, its their biggest revenue generator by far. Expecting them to loose interest in the clean-up very soon. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 77315416 United States 11/05/2019 02:22 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | great ideas! let the homeless set up tent city on university campuses, where there is usually a lot of room and amenities. the students can gain valuable work experience by helping them move on in life. they will also see what happens to people when they have no support, no money, disabilities, addictions, - the possible prices to pay for certain lifestyles, etc. It would be a great learning experience for them. Then they really would be teaching in tent classrooms in tent cities. |
