This surprises me as any Saturday night of the year A&E units are full of drunks and fighting folk, who are abusive, racist etc...... doctors and nurses are expected to treat them at the point of need. This has been going on for years and years, why now do they decide to get tough, why in Bristol as I’ve not seen this being implemented in Wales????

It’s financially motivated I think. If they really want to address this problem they should have zero tolerance of any abuse and a good place to start is by not treating the drunks leaving them at a police facility e.g a cell over night to sober up. This would work with mental health act being implemented Willy hilly so that a drunk person saying “I’m gonna kill myself” would not have a section 2 or 3 slapped on them which stays with them all their lives, because they said to a police person that they felt suicidal when under the influence of what ever substance they were under.

IOW if you're white you will be refused any sort of medical treatment.
