Virginia Democrats have taken control of the state Senate for the first time in five years.

Democrats flipped the Senate on Tuesday. Control of the state House is still unknown as officials continue to count votes in key races.

Of four states having legislative elections this year, Virginia is the only one where control of the statehouse is up for grabs.

Prior to the election, Republicans had a slim majority in both the state House and Senate.

If someone cheated they should pay the price. That is exactly what happened in Georgia during the last election.

The Bevin loss is more on him than Republicans. He was warring with the teachers, and did not help the flood victims in Kentucky this spring.

I think it was a protest vote against him personally and his behavior and decisions.

I am looking at two counties that could make this real interesting.

Campbell County - near Cincinnati. Should have reported already. A bedroom community to the Queen City.

McCracken County - home of Paducah. The largest western city in Kentucky. Its still out.

Not sure if this can overcome the current gap. But these two counties is where this could get interesting.

I had no idea so many dems in Kentucky?

The GOP has swept these elections with the exception of Bevins.
The left is acting like the sky is falling on Trump.

If this is what they call a big win, their standards are desperately low.

Trump had a historic turnout in kentucky, winning by the largest republican margin since Nixon in '72.

Kentucky should have re-elected their governor tonight.

Even with Bevin's horrible approval rating the margin is razor thin. Should have been a slam dunk for the dems but it wasn't. Says more about the weakness of the dems than Trump. Dems were absolutely crushed in the other KY races.

Kentucky just voted its first Republican AG in 70 years in. And he is black, and he was running against a well known political family name.

I think in some way the Cameron win over Stumbo was statement that the state is done with the Blue Dog democrat families (except Breshear....)

KY is prominently a Dem state

if there is a guy like this who stands a good chance of losing the general election, primary him with someone that fits with the Trump agenda.

No, it was a party vote. It was getting Bevin, personally out of office.

Every other office is still Republican, House and Senate is Republican.
