We've already had an early cold front in October that sent temps near freezing in Houston. Made my first pot of chili a month early.

Glad I made plenty of it. Next week's expected weather comes with the chance for icy precip, a couple of weeks earlier than usual.

Alabama GOP Sen. Richard Shelby is stepping into the middle of political hotbed: He's saying his longtime friend of 20 years, Republican Jeff Sessions, could win a his newly announced bid to recapture his old Senate seat, and he's prepared to help him.

In his announcement, Sessions spoke highly of Trump despite their troubled history.

"When I left President Trump's cabinet, did I write a tell all book? No. Did I go on CNN and attack the President? No. Have I said a cross word about President Trump? No," Sessions said in a statement. "And I'll tell you why: First, that would be dishonorable. I was there to serve his agenda, not mine. Second, the President is doing a great job for America and Alabama, and he has my strong support."
