User ID: 71860689 United States 11/08/2019 08:20 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It was almost military-like. Standing up when a superior (teacher) walkedä in. Greetings (e.g. "Good morning, teacher!") were mandatory and the entire class would say it in unison. You always asked for a permission to speak. You did not leave the class until you were dismissed by the teacher. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78120150 You were punished if you forgot books or hadn't done your homework. Your mouth was washed with soap (really) if you cursed. Back then nobody had ADHD or exhibited chronic bad behavior. Most important of all, the parents didn't make excuses for their kids or tried to get special rules for their "special kid". Everybody was treated the same. If you got good grades or the teacher commended you, you KNEW you had done a good job. No participation trophies back then. Not in my memory of the 1970s but definitely not as bad as it is now. I blame a bunch of things. Government and corporate corruption, Leftist policies, Communism, Media/ entertainment which has always been full of communists. Then there is Feminism, big government, social welfare programs, civil rights abuses, reverse racism, DIVERSITY ( not a strength, but a great way to make money and hold down production cost) destruction of the family divorce, and let us not forget vaccines, poor quality food and a lack of exercise and sunlight. |

Ask for permission to go to the lavatory. Reading, writing and arithmetic. Grades that actually reflected ones ability. Manners and respect or else face the consequences. And the list goes on. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 78149333 United States 11/08/2019 08:28 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Students grow into adults and so it makes perfect sense for there to be rightful respect of your teachers only if they treat their students properly and are good teachers, bad teachers don't deserve any respect at all, bad teachers are worthless wastes of space. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77799900 Teachers should only be respective if the teachers respect their students as human beings, so its rightful for the students and the teacher to respect all of each other equally because that is equally and it makes everything work out nicely Washing people's mouths with soap..... is that if they curse totally wrongfully or if they curse with a right to curse at someone because that someone is a bad person who actually deserves to be cursed at? hmmmmmmm, with that wash your mouth with soap comment you sound like an abusive asshole, go wash your ass with soap its GROSSLY DISGUSTING LOL I've never come across anyone who went to a school where they put soap in the mouths of students that just sounds really crazy, there are definitely much better ways to punish someone for cursing like explaining what a lousy piece of trash they are(without using the exact word trash unless they were curing VERY horribly) for cursing at people because that really makes them see themselves for what they are and that teaches them the best to not wrongfully curse at people, but with you being extremely retarded you are not able to think of that! Ivory soap tastes the best. It's kind of sweet. Always hope for ivory soap. |

We were a bunch of assholes and these kids are kind and look out for each other. I never understood using violence to discipline a child only to tell him once he turns 18 he cannot employ these same tactics towards others or he will go to jail. It made us a bunch of hateful shits. |

User ID: 76102966 United States 11/08/2019 08:50 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Ok. Back then we could play outside all day long and completely unsupervised by adults. We were polite to adults and behave well, or our parents would hear about it and there would be hell to pay. I agree. In those days kids were taught boundaries and expected to respect them. Punishment ensued if boundaries were broken. Some punishments consisted of being housebound for a certain length of time, usually 2 weeks to one month, depending on the offense. Not seeing friends outside was a major punishment as they weren't allowed visiting rights. Withholding an allowance for x-amount of time hurt just as badly. I think a lot of moms said that. "Beat you" is what I heard and thankfully they had big station wagons back then so we could flee from the backhanded slapping we would get if we were fighting in the back seat. So many women school teachers just machined the surfaces of the kids flat. The teachers being stupid dumbfucks, ruined everything good we had. Anonymous Coward User ID: 75995723 Finland 11/08/2019 08:59 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | A lot of those very strict teachers just want to hurt students and many kinds of people just to hurt them for the sake of hurting them because they get enjoyment and pleasure out of inflicting pain for the sake of causing pain and not because they feel those people deserve it as their #1 reason to hurtfully punish people, especially if they punish a person for doing something they had a right to do because they were doing it to a rotten asshole like the overly strict mistreating rude worthless waste of space teacher, or very mean nasty horrible student etc. People who want to hurt other people just for the sake of hurting them and not because they deserve it as their #1 reason to hurt other people are VERY bad people obvious and they are very huge sons of bitches with the guys and bitches with the girls, they really are worthless waste of space piles of sh!t, period. Well because there are A LOT of ACTUAL good people in existence, so those VERY bad stupid assholes better watch themselves LOL. I don't care what people say in response to my comments, me and any ACTUAL normal person knows that all of my comments are 100% true. It is very simple: if a kid doesn't treat others with respect and behave like a civilized person, he doesn't deserve to be treated with respect and in a civil manner. These days the kids treat teachers and adults like shit, because they've been made untouchable little royals. They know adults are powerless to discipline them in any way. The teachers can't even raise their voice in the class anymore. I grew up in 70s and I learnt very quick to behave. The teachers weren't cruel sadists, but they punished bad behavior and were right to do so. When you say "overly strict", it just shows you have a problem with authority. Too many parents today abdicate their duty to be authority to their kids. That's a major problem. |

My shop teacher in 8th grade had a paddle with holes drilled in it that hung by the classroom door. I never saw him use it, but the threat was in your face everyday. When you let women, children, and weak ass beta men rule over society, it will fall into chaos because no one will respect those authority figures. |

It baffled me (even at that age) that a concerted effort was made to bring hood nag-rats to our nice suburb schools to "integrate" us. From that point on the hood was always a part of the school experience. They were always trash and still are today. Much worse today... |
