No one wants to be homeless.

Being destitute with shelter, very limited food and owning literally nothing is a very hard way to live.

Some people are homeless through no fault of their own. We owe them our charity, after all, we have compassion for those less fortunate than us.

However, drugs and alcohol are a fact among the homeless. Those items cost money and lead to further loss. They are self destructive.

However, I would never tell someone else how they should live. No one here can imagine what that person is going through and you might do even worse in the same circumstances.
