I think the argument could be made in Court that this was an "Assault with Intent"

An expert witness could be brought in to testify that a downward strike (12 to 6) was an intent to injure.

If there are marks (from the booty stomp), it could be argued Assault causing bodily harm.

I think I seen the student strike the teacher to begin with.

The teacher will use the "consent" defense. But it is clear that more force was used then what was needed in the circumstances.

Self defense will not stand up to assault/tort law either.
