(OP) User ID: 76792073 United States 11/18/2019 04:28 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Yesterday I put the front shoulder meat in our crockpot and slow cooked it all day. It came out very tender and tasty. Quoting: Wild Edibles So how did you harvest the Venison. Did you stalk it? Did you use a bow? Did you use a night scope and rifle? Did you field dress it? Have you used the hide for anything? So much you are not saying, Says a lot tbh. I shot it with my rifle in the afternoon. I brought it back to our cabin and skinned it and quartered it out. Put it on ice till the next morning. Started processing. I am still building our house and stuff so I don’t have time to do things with the hide this year. But I wanted to. Learn something new each day,,,, And love your country!!! FJB |

Quoting: Wild Edibles In the video I explained that we don’t have an oven on our little homestead. I have to use my grill as an oven. My bad, volume was low and I only heard a few words. Now post a video of how you cook the rest. That tenderloin is the easy one. It is the other part of the deer that is hard to cook right and not get tough. I always just cut them in small finger pieces and fry. Sure would like to know other ways. Guess I will have to try your way. Marinade (24-48 hours) and pressure cook. I guess u have squash about? You could make some amazing soups etc. I also recall folks collecting acorns for gourmet foods, tho I don't recall which. Yes, I grew and canned squash this summer. :) Acorns? Wow, new to me! I will have to inquire about that. I make soups, stews and chili with the deer meat/venison. I do not have to buy any meat from October to almost Summertime! (Though I do on occasion, because I also prefer the taste of other proteins.) |

Are you standing on high moral ground throwing accusations at OP because he didn't tan the hide or use a hand-hewn bow and arrow tips knapped from flint?? Go stuff yourself. |

And to the rest that sneer. Why so bitter ? Yes i hunt & i do know what i am talking about. Believe it or not we do hunt in the UK. We do have the tools to do so. We do eat venison. And we do not think that we are the "Bees Knees" when it comes to such things, Unlike some of the posters from Canada & USA. |

I have not seen one person on this thread imply they were 'the bees knees,' OR speak of the hunting practice in any country, other than our own. Again, you are the one with the attitude. |

Or maybe some of that new muscle wasting disease. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76904125 Study it. Any hunter worth his or her salt has studied that extensively. I do not know about other states, but we can take our kills to Arkansas Game and Fish, and they test it for free! |
