Quoting: LilMiss I have a question: Is Mercury the only planet that passes in front of the Sun like this? A buddy is asking, and I have not a clue about that. Mercury Venus and the moon. Thank you so much!! Why are there only those 3 that do this? |

User ID: 76489026 United States 11/11/2019 10:02 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Factoid: During this transit Mercury is on average ~46,294,110 km (~28,765,829 mile) from the surface (photosphere) of the sun. That also means it is that much closer to the earth than the visible surface of the sun. Have fun. No. Only the moon, Mercury and Venus can pass between us and the sun. Everything else orbits father out than Earth. |

From the earth it is only the moon and inner planets, but from an Astrological prospective all planets will have a transit at some point. |

But there are not common to be seen from Earth as you statement suggest. The next visible transit of Mercury is 2032. |
