The school Christmas party at the church was banned in Finland

According to the Parliamentary Deputy Ombudsman, the school closing ceremony must not be held in the church.

The solution is in line with a statement by Parliamentary Deputy Ombudsman Pasi Pölönen on Tuesday that organizing a school Christmas party in the church violates students' religious freedom and equality.

The solution is based on a complaint previously made by the Unbelievers in Finland about the procedure of the City of Kouvola, where one of the city's schools organizes its Christmas party in the church.

In the decision, the Deputy Ombudsman also found problematic the practices of two other Kouvola schools about the religious opening of the morning broadcasted by the Central Radio and the traditional fast Thursday church visit.
