If an aircraft observed it, that would mean it would be a massive tsunami in all likelyhood lol. Pretty sure localized tsunamis can happen, but they state it was 600 miles away from the location, so idk.

In the deep ocean, tsunamis can move as fast as a jet plane, over 500 mph, and can cross entire oceans in less than a day. As the waves enter shallow water near land, they slow to the speed of a car, approximately 20 or 30 mph.

Water does not compress by mass. So there would be surface evidence of such event. Technically there is sub surface movements but not by volume.
