His ministry undergoes audits every year and are under constant scrutiny. They're squeaky clean. Wealth accomplishes a lot in the right hands. I'm glad he makes no excuses.

Charlatan.
 Quoting: ScrumpTheTexan

MATTHEW 7
20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord,
shall enter into the kingdom of heaven;
but he that doeth the will of my Father
which is in heaven.

22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord,
have we not prophesied in thy name?
and in thy name have cast out devils?
and in thy name done MANY WONDERFUL WORKS?

23 And then will I profess unto them,
I NEVER KNEW YOU: depart from me,
ye that work iniquity.

When I look into that guy's eyes,
I see a DEMON staring back at me.

If you don't see that, I seriously
doubt the Holy Spirit abides in you.

You notice Jesus isn't talking to
atheists, or muslims, or satanists here.
He's talking to people who
PROFESS to be "christians".
What a SAD TERRIBLE DAY that is going to
be for these people.
We should ALL examine ourselves to make
absolutely sure we are not among them.

He makes a valid point, and I've said it for years myself, that poor people can't give to the poor...it takes wealth to be able to continually give to the needy...

If he were truly a man of God, he would repent, sell off his assets and give it all to charity. He should then spend the rest of his days wandering the middle East bringing Christianity to the muslims. Though I don't think he would last long.

20 years ago I was sending him a lot of money but he was supposed to be helping other people with it and not putting it into his bank account.
 Quoting: Pilgrim001

I prefer to give directly so that I know the money goes where I want it...but churches do a lot of good...they will pay for car repairs, utility bills, and so on for people in need, but that doesn't mean the head people have to eat in the soup kitchens along with the poor...
 Quoting: BRIEF

No that is EXACTLY how it should be

Jesus teaches to do EXACTLY THIS

Please just stop defending a person that is obviously not doing his God's work.

“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”—Matthew 6:19–21

“For you say, I am rich, I have prospered, and I need nothing, not realizing that you are wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked.”—Revelation 3:17

First Timothy 6:10: “For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.”

I could continue but I'll end with this, read up on Christ and the Rich Young Ruler story. It is in the Bible.

The pastor should be the poorest of everyone

... and these pastors use greed to get people to give their last dime.

"Brothers and Sisters I say unto you, whatever you give, God will return 10 fold! Open up and give to the will of the Lord!"

Yeah, these turds go to seminars to teach them how to hook people. It is awful.

Had "ministers" in our family -- some of the most disgusting, greedy types I have ever known. I always called their shit, and they loved to tell the rest of the family that I am demon possessed. Funny thing is: when presented with a malevolent haunting once, they tucked tail and ran, I was the one who went into deep meditation, and confronted the entity. For that, they then called me a witch. Can't make this crazy shit up.
 Quoting: Lady Ignotus Jayne Smith

But not all are that way.

My little Brother is a Pastor of a small Church, and has been for more than 20 years.

100% of the offerings collected go into expenses for the Church, and he works to support his family and lifestyle.
 Quoting: ScrumpTheTexan

I know there are some good ones out there, but they are becoming a smaller percentage.

The ones that were in our family were horrid -- one set of rules for everyone, and another for them. Put on big public displays, but it was very different in private. They castigated everyone for drinking, but wanted me to go to the store and buy them wine -- couldn't be seen buying that stuff after going off on others, but sure liked to drink it themselves when no one was watching. Even asked me to write them a letter of reference for a rental property, after they had just gotten evicted for not paying rent for 3 months -- flipped the crap out when I reminded them we are not to bear false witness.

I was at their "church" one evening when they had this guest "minister". He was like a used car salesman. He entire purpose for being their was to lead the offering. I was in the back during this time setting out refreshments when the offering plates were brought back. He asked, "how much was the haul?", when he saw the count, he said, "Let's go again". Went out front and started guilting people into giving more. I never set foot in their "church" again. Oh, and the minister relatives? They used that $$$ for a romantic weekend at the Gaylord in Dallas.

Scrumpy, I just can't .........not with a clear conscience.
 Quoting: Lady Ignotus Jayne Smith

Yeah hun, I know... there are a metric ton of these guys just out to get rich.

Some of them start out right, but when the dollars start rolling in, they run to the cash and away from God.

One of my best friends tells a story of the guy who led him to Christ. This guy was a teacher of The Word... a literal master of Scripture, and devoted to Christ.

Until his situation changed, he got a Church, and the dollars started rolling in. He wound up going to prison for embezzlement, and while there, reverted/repented and led multitudes of prisoners to Christ.

Did it stick once he was released? Who knows.

But it takes a very special kind of person to be a Pastor, and to remain non-corrupted. My Brother’s been offered positions at large Churches over the years... he declined.

He’d rather stay in God’s Will & take care of the people at his small Church, and support himself.
 Quoting: ScrumpTheTexan

Especially for a sincere, uncorrupted pastor, it's a stressful job. Many of them end up burning out, leaving the ministry -- some even walk away from their faith. The ones who are in it for the money simply don't care about their flock and take life easy.

Copeland may escape justice in this life -- but he won't in the next.

what da fuck is the kingdom of heaven? can you describe it? is it a mansion? what color is it? would you buy something you could not describe in any way shape or form?

people with money are already in heaven this world is heaven for people who have money and hell for people who are poor. ask homeless people with no money what hell is. if you follow Jesus advice, you WILL in fact, end up in hell, poor with no money, just listen to yourself, you tell your kids money isn't important?

and they end up poor, in a shitty poor area, with no sidewalks and crime? their kids get raped, their pets get killed in dog fights? poverty is death

jesus can't, jesus didn't give anyone a single dime.

i guess if we could just make bread and fish magically appear all our problems would be solved

maybe i can make a house appear, if i wish really really hard

the bible says if I wish for it, God will give it to me.

how sad is that?

I'm not magic either, that's why I worked hard and saved money...

well all our money is created by magic, from nothing, why don't christian preachers ever point that out? they are told not to worry about it, it's fine, nothing to see here, just .....get da money for daddy

Not mine, my money came from hard work...no one ever gave me shit...
 Quoting: BRIEF

you always say you worked hard but never say what hard work you did. why did you work so hard are you stupid or something?

when i'm on a job and I work really hard, you know what everyone does? they try to get me to work hard so they dont have to work as hard
