I cut the cable and kept the internet. I was surprised at how well the, T. V. Antenna worked. I am 100 miles away from the stations.

I’ve got two Roku sets with Prime and Hulu... it’s about $17 a month for those two, and that combined with all of the free channels through Roku is far more content than any cable plan on the planet.

Quit TV and Dish Network about ten years ago. Internet only now. I like PS4 Golf games so I just buy them. Just pick out a couple of good games and buy them instead of always being connected. That's what I do anyway.

I will have to try a TV antenna and see if they have improved. I couldn't get much of anything 15 years ago. Free TV and some NFL games would be nice.

All you need is internet. I use my main TV as a secondary monitor and either torrent or stream whatever I want to watch for free.

There are many ways to do it. OpenLoadMovies is a fairly decent start. It has a .bz extension. Pirate Bay is still alive and well in different proxy variations for your torrenting needs. I would recommend using a VPN for a little extra safety.
I did it. I did it on purpose. And I'll do it again.

Listen up OP.

Buy yourself a Raspberry Pi. Install Kodi (software to manage your media on the Raspberry PI). Buy a 3TB hard drive. Plug it into your Raspberry PI, plug Raspberry PI into TV. Download Exodus to the PI. Enable unknown sources on Pi. Download all movies free to your 3 TB hard drive. I cut the cord two years ago.

Total cost is less than $150 -FOREVER

Good luck.

P.S.
Use a VPN.

We cut the cable back in 2004 and haven't missed it a bit EXCEPT for the Thanksgiving Parade and the Super Bowl.

Honestly, I cut years ago and today I have Netflix, Hulu+ live tv. Netflix runs $16 and Hulu+ Live tv without commercials runs $55. I only got the live tv portion for Fox News. When you go live tv with Hulu it opens up a lot of content that previously wasn't available.

given that Netflix is trending so far left it's gross I may be canceling my subscription with them. They are losing The Office and other NBC shows in 2020 sometime so no loss.

As far as what you get for the money I would say HULU+ Live tv. You can watch current episodes the next day, you get 50 hours of cloud dvr and 40+ live channels.

keep the internet.
buy a samsung galaxy s4 about 140. and an mhl cable(its like a small hdmi).

subscribe to expressvpn and install it on your phone and your computer.
download cinema apk, tv zion, titanium tv. do not install anything else on it so it will be totally private. you will be able to watch ALL movies and tv shows for nothing. youll only pay 100.00 a year for expressvpn, and whatever your cable company charges for the internet.

I agree but most of those channels are garbage. They play outdated movies and tv shows and usually the D rated ones.

With Roku it is a matter of to much channel content with a huge lack in quality entertainment.

Sling isn't bad ($25, plus some other packages you can add)

Philo is a little cheaper ($20).

Hulu has streaming channels (not sure of cost) or just their streaming of shows ($6).

Once you get rid of cable you just don't watch as much. I have sling and the cheap hulu, plus roku has a free channel along with some other free channels. I'm thinking of getting rid of sling, I don't watch it much.

Somewhat, but there are quality free channels on Roku like Sony Crackle, for instance, and Pluto to name just a couple.

But I added Hulu and Prime to beef it up a little.

The Roku box itself comes with LOTS of FREE streaming channels built in.....It's probably not enough for most folks who want live tv but for FREE it's not bad. We use YouTubeTV as well.

Over the air antenna in the attic picks up about 35 hd channels from OKC, 70 miles away. We pay for Hulu Live, 44.99 month. We have dsl with a download speed of between 7 and 8 mpbs which gets us hd with no buffering.

Other options ions are free Hulu with a Spotify subscription (family plan is available).

We chose Hulu Live over YouTube Live, more channels that we watch for $5 less per month.
