Secure Boot problem.
Is it just my imagination, or is Secure Boot a hardware feature to stop you from installing anything other than Windows?

I tried to install Mint 19.2 on buddy's laptop and secure boot kept crashing it despite booting live.

Then I couldn't install Mint because there's no option to switch it off Secure Boot in the BIOS.

I installed Mint on the hard drive using an old Aldi laptop and the laptop said no bootable device!

So I reinstalled Windows and everything works! :o

I don't think Secure Boot stops you from overwriting the MBR because Windows reinstalled after formatting under linux.

Thanks dood, I mainly haunt their IRC channel to get help because there's Linux "nerds" awake and on there all day long.

There was an option under installing third party drivers to disable Secure Boot, but that's when it crashed because Secure Boot was always on and there's no option to switch it off in the BIOS of the laptop.

There's the option to disable Secure Boot on my Dell Laptop I bought from Microsoft, but I forgot the BIOS password. :seriouslystoopid: So it'll be a Windows system forever... :(

In the case of my Dell laptop it's ok, because I need a Windows system to play games on my couch. Until I can scrape together the cash for 2 1TB ssds for my I5, but even then after being a nerd for a decade I'm starting to get myopia and need a Windows laptop for RPGMaker games. :)

Linux Mint works wonders for old and underpowered systems, but my problem is a hardware one. :(
