I agree. Prior to drugs Whitney had it all. Her vocal range was unmatched. Unfortunately she wiped the forever status with her very publicized downfall and death. Whitney songs are still put forth by aspiring artists far more than Celine songs.

I give Adele 5 stars. It’s not just the voice, it’s the passion.

Karen Carpenter cover of The Beatles Ticket to Ride: the emotion, her range, and her silky smooth, class delivery is why I feel she is the best. And yes, I know that is subjective, but echo’d by many great musicians;

Another little known fact was Karen Carpenter’s mastery of the drums. Lots of vids of her playing. Mr. Buddy Rich even had stated she was one of the best all time drummers, and didn’t need to qualify her by gender in doing so. This is Superstar and again shows her silky, classy contralto voice;
