I’m torn. I used to want to be an epic action movie director . I wrote a bunch of action movies . But now I’m conflicted.

The more I really want to serve God the less I care about Hollywood. As a kid I dreamt of living in Los Angeles and making major motion pictures. I have made various short films with action sequences . But now when I watch movies I get sickened In my gut by grotesque violence and gore. There’s this pull from within that’s says if I’m gonna make movies make purposeful movies that help others and doesn’t glorify sex or violence . I really feel like I would be a hippocrite proclaiming Jesus but then making a movie laced with vulgar language and violence . It doesn’t add up . It kinda sucks though all the movies I loved growing up now I just view as a giant waste of money and time. There’s seriously something wrong in a world where a Hollywood movie can cost 180 million dollars to make yet half the world starved. It’s really messed up.

On a bright note - I am currently writing a faith based movie about a minor league baseball player who wants to make it to the majors but has to deal with the trials and tribulations of life.

So you are under the belief that you were going to go to Hollywood and just start making movies huh?

Unless you're prepared to fuck kids you're never going to get anywhere in Hollywood. Research the dick you want to suck before committing yourself to a dream that isn't rooted in reality.

I was a successful TV director. I went to LA and worked on a couple of flicks and met some interesting people. My overall impression of LA is a clusterfuck of shitheads and shallow weirdos. People that do the real work on films in LA, like grip, lighting, sound and camera were mostly excellent- some really really great people...

These days I'm a cameraman. It's a much more honest living. Stay in the crafts - producing and directing is full of cunts. Oh and the money is way better in technical..

^^^ I'm just an owner-operator doing TV work. News, factual, documentary or corporate. I'm a slut I will film anything. It's massive fun. When you get past 45 you stop giving a fuck and just chase the money. Film and TV is mostly full of cunts. Never forget that!

I own a Sony PMW500 and FS5 with all the expensive lenses, tripods and mics. I love Sony kit it's industry standard. DSLR's are great but for real work you'll need a Sony

Man it was fun in college shooting short films because everything was free. All the local restaurants and coffee shops let us shoot for free . Obviously we bought food and drink but still pretty cool. We never had to get a permit or anything. I read something that said permits in la can go for 600 dollars or more per day depending on the situation.
