Most of Europe is Socialist and they are like the greatest people ever, so....

Demand is making rent high. In SF-- highly paid software engineers are bidding up the prices of real estate in SF and Berkeley. Real estate taxes are also making the price of rent high. High taxation is fleecing landlords and tenants alike-- and it is spent on things like needle exchange and illegal alien college tuition --- that have no social benefit for taxpaying citizens.

The solution to the housing issue is simple. Live further out and commute to your job in the city. Vote for lower real estate taxes.

My baby boomer husband commuted 3 hours a day because we could not afford to buy a nice house closer in to NYC.

Millennials-- you can't live in "the exciting city" because it is toooo expensive for you. Grow up and compromise.

Many generations before you have had this problem also. Stop whining, and move far out of the city. Commute. Learn a language while you drive or take the train.

You must learn to compromise with your lack of money-- work hard, save your money, commute-- and maybe buy a place in the city after you are established financially..

Socialism is only going to make your problems worse.

Europe is having major problems.

Scandinavian socialism only works when the culture has an average IQ of over 100, and a work ethic, and a common heritage.

It would be interesting to know the voting records of the owners who have to shut down.

If the wages go up so will everything else. Learn some basic economics! The corporation is not going to lose profits they will raise prices on everything to gain back what the have to pay for labor.

NYC is getting strange.....new luxury condo buildings are being built across the street from government projects low income housing....the skid row Bowery is now full of clubs, restaurants, and hotels.....I own a building in Manhattan and friends think I'm crazy not living there.....I live across the river in a house.....too old for "bright lights, big city".....looking to move to the countryside for retirement in 2 years.....

NYC bothers me.....socialist attitude from so called "woke" people.....I nod my head and smile the same way as if I'm talking with the mentally deranged.....a great majority doesn't know the issues except on an emotional level and they are vocal.....

You are not living in a capitalistic system where you own your money.

Socialism has it's apologists but the hard truth is liberals despise freedom because they despise morality and the personal responsibility that makes morality essential and necessary to a successful life.

This country lost it's moral compass long ago.
Thus the decline in quality of life and the increased public celebration of anything and everything perverted and evil.

Whether you like it or not it's going to happen.
There are too many poor people. They are revolting.
If you end up paying more in taxes, you deserve to.

Liberals only tolerate Liberals and Liberal ideas. Liberals hate Christianity and conservative Bible believing Christians are persona non grata in any gathering of Liberals. Liberals are extremely intolerant concerning Christianity because of its insistence upon personal responsibility and moral absolutes. Liberals know that a society without moral absolutes and without a strong emphasis on personal responsibility will fall be it's downfall because self reliance and rugged individualism are traits that are only found among moral peoples who come from strong families.

San Francisco And NYC bigger problem is both cities are overcrowded. Humans were not meant to live like sardines in a can.

For liberalism/leftist/progressivism/Socialism/Communism to not crash too quickly, a society requires post-card-perfect demographics and good natural resources.

Very few places in the world, if any, have those two built-in advantages. Having just one of the two, such as what oil-rich Venezuela is known for, hasn't prevented the misery and suffering of kind, caring, humane liberal/leftwing Maduro's country.

And the reason for the low wages and unaffordable housing is Socialist policies in city governments. Most city council members and mayors are Liberals, even in Red states.

Those governments put out regulations and taxes that increase housing costs and regulate new housing projects to keep profits up.
They also restrict business growth,(both by increasing taxes and regulations) which is creating excess workers and
thus decreasing wages.

Basic economics, do you understand that?

Don't confuse charity with government sponsored theft. Charity is when people give, of their own free will, to someone less fortunate. Theft when something is taken from you and used or given to someone else. Section 8 is not charity, as with all government "give aways" the money is stolen from people that work for a living, and given to those that don't.
