land owners would sell them affordable land because land owners back then could only use so much land.

they didn't have all this machinery that allows them to farm 100,000 acres like today.

a farmer could only farm what he could plow with his horse, which wasn't much at all. so he had a vested interest in selling land to others nearby, because they would be part of his town, producers producing more goods.

but today the land owners can use all that land and profit off farming it, they don't need to sell it to people

who cares if they're selling to china and making a lot of money,

you aren't. capitalism is all about selfishness, which in old days was the very definition of evil

what do I benefit if they are using a million acres to grow soybeans and sell them to china? why would I care?

Bullshit.
We worked for decades for our property, and you could have it too if you want it enough to work for it.

Indians that were farmers sure as hell believed in land ownership.
Only the nomads didn't believe in land ownership by families, but they did believe in the tribal ownership of hunting grounds, and would defend them.

In the 1920s 90% of people lived on farms and millions starved to death, Now less than 10% live on farms and how many will die???

I am a urban gardener, small animals on 1 acre in So Cal, To feed my near by family of 4 generations, lets say 10 people 1500 calories a day so 15k calories a day,450,000 a month,5,400,000 calories a year!

Do you cull the old? the worthless?

I think i could do it as i have 5.5 million calories on hand.
10 chickens hens and 2 roosters hatch my own, Rabbits 2 breading pairs, Several hundred pounds of seed to grow food fodder and sprouts, a half acre of premo garden area of a-minded soil for large plants.
Hydroponic trays 4x8, components and neut's.
Sprouting trays to do 100 plus pounds a week.
Knowledge and practice in the garden calendar and threats from pests and disease.

So much more

And Vlad, I do like a corner office.

Preferably with a view of that star nursery motherfucker. He needs a few learning experiences, and I have just the rifle to provide the motivation.

I read Jimmy Carter's book, An Hour Before Dawn. gives a pretty good description of life during the Depression.

His family owned a good size plot of land but they still lived pretty poor. no running water, air condtioning, toilet paper, things like that. just dozens of things you take for granted did not even exist back then.

people only got electricity during rural electrification project some years later

That sounds good, but in the coming GD 2.0, where are the farmers going to get their fuel for their combines, tractors, etc?
