Proud to have seen Manilla Road a couple of years back..great band, RIP Mark Shelton.

the other night in the car I played some rap music because i wanted to expose my kids to all type of music... they looked pissed off. even my 2 year old hated it... 10mins later i changed the music to 80s Heavy Rock and they started banging their heads LOL no joke. they know good music.

I like most all kinds of music when it comes to an authentic expression. I grew up on Blues, Jazz and Doo Wop from Dad's particular music obsession. That's my DNA but my veins flow with HM. Your kids rock! That is awesome.

First time hearing the name but i have just looked him up, he's a science fiction and fantasy writer? Got something to recommend? In terms of 'sword and sorcery' stuff i have mostly read the classic stuff from Robert. E Howard.

Nice one with Brocas Helm, another awesome underground heavy metal band.

Michael Moorcock, Elric of Melnibone. He is up there with Howard and Tolkien in fantasy fiction I think. The Melniboneans are a wicked elder race and Elric is the 428th Emperor. He's an albino wizard with a congenital weakness that requires drugs for the strength to live and would rather lay about and study dusty tomes than rule. His cousin screws him and then it's one incredible event after another. He acquires a powerful magic sword and all hell breaks loose. It's where the term Eternal Champion is from.

I have heard a fair bit of Black Metal but never can get into it much. Glad you enjoy it though. Question: did you like Black Metal at first or was there a progression of heaviness in your journey?

That's cool. I am the opposite. There used to be an extreme metal show every weekend on the college station. I liked some of it; more of the Death Metal though. The more virtuosic, finely-crafted guitars that tend to be in Death Metal can be appealing and the drums are insane.

It warms my black cesspool of a heart to see other metalheads about the forum. Here OP:
