I think the Federal poverty rate is right around 12,500 a year, so 1.5 times that is over 18,000 a year.

1.5 times the federal poverty rate for a single individual is just over 18,000 a year.

Who actually gets the food stamp money? The grocery industry. And they probably take that money and send it directly back to the Federal government in the form of payroll taxes.
