I once walked into a Christmas store near Midland Odessa during the oil boom a few years back. Looked liked a normal Christmas store until you noticed the prices. Gold and silver ornaments going for a grand, whole decorated trees going for 50-100K. I also noticed that a security guard was politely following me around the store and when I left without buying anything followed me out of the store to my car. I thought he was going to ask to search me, but he just waved nicely as I drove off. Probably getting my plate number. I had a serious bit of depression when I realized there was a market for 100k Christmas trees in Odessa, Texas.

Go to Fashion Island in Newport Beach, you'll feel so out of place. You'll feel like a homeless person in the middle of a fashion magazine full of beautiful people.

I had a friend in high school and her mother was a super fashion maven. She didn't buy "off the rack" and went to NYC a couple times a year to get the latest.

I went shopping with them once and we went to this store that is like a salon. There are no racks. You make an appointment and they have live models come out in a few outfits. If you like, they tailor it to fit you and you can be sure no one else in town will be wearing it at the gala or whatever.

And yes there were cucumber sandwiches and tea and wine I think. VERY fancy. I just felt dirty the whole time I was in the room. I wasn't ready for that.

it looks like a consignment that we have here that does have very nice 2nd hand stuff over priced ofc. and it is in a building that used to be a grocery store. Never figured out why the grocery store left?

I just looked this up, it's South Asian, India, Nepal, Bangladesh, looks like that style of clothes in the window. I might have to actually go inside now.
