Low carb is good, but it means you have to get the right carbs or you will end up deficient. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 73848670 Oh baby, I eat a grilled ribeye once a week, lol. My favorite day. Ride the wings of the mind User ID: 78182431 United States 11/22/2019 03:07 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | This is not a look at how awesome I am thread, its to help people. Quoting: ~Newton's Own~ I was diagnosed type 2 with an a1c of 13. I was put on metformin 1000 twice a day and advised to change my diet and excercise more. They wanted to put me on insulin but I couldn't afford it. Lemme tell you how I beat it. I went down to one low fat, low carb meal a day in the evening and took my meds. I also walked 20 mins per day rain or shine. At first the hunger was hard to deal with but I didn't want to be on insulin, so I endured. 3 months later I had an a1c test and it was a 5.4. 3 months later its still 5.4 and my doctor, shocked, tells me my diabetes is cured and puts me on half meds to wean me off. If you have diabetes, you can do it too. Not saying this formula will work for everyone, but it worked for me. Any questions I'd be glad to answer. God be with everyone suffering this disease, my heart is with you too. Great job. I hope more people are inspired by your success. Can you describe what you would typically eat in day before you were diagnosed and then what you typically eat today? Have you lost significant weight? Can you describe what you would typically eat in day before you were diagnosed and then what you typically eat today? Have you lost significant weight? What kind of symptoms were you experiencing when you knew there was a problem? Oh Lord, I had a terrible diet. Too much fast food, sodas, I loved sweets and was about 20lbs overweight. I went down to one meal a day, crock pot chicken and asparagus usually, my favorite, and exercise. I didn't eat well but now that I do it has changed everything. I eat no sugar whatsoever besides maybe a bit sized snickers every now and then. The great thing is that with this diagnosis my whole family is eating better now, I'm training my kids to eat right, as diabetes runs in my family. Its been a win-win. In many ways, I can say this diabetes thing has helped my whole family. God is great! A coward dies a thousand times, but the valiant need taste of death but once. God be with everyone suffering this disease, my heart is with you too. Same here. Just remember, it doesn't have to be this dramatic. A HbA1c of <7.0 is perfectly acceptable. So shooting for <30-40 g carbs/day is a reasonable target - easier to comply with and probably just as effective, especially if combined with increased exercise. Save yourself a ton of cash… go low carb |

I don't eat much fruit, the doc said the fructose isn't good for me, but I do eat bread, whole grain wheat on a sandwich. When we get burgers, we bring in and I take off the bun and put whole grain wheat on and we're good to go. I blush, but with the changed diet my sex drive is very healthy with my wife, not that it wasn't before. In all, its been great. I thank you for your responses. Everything the government did in creating “the food pyramid” was terrible science. I’m excited to implement what the OP talks about to get healthy. Watch the doc if you can find it somewhere.
