Quoting: ~Newton's Own~ I was diagnosed type 2 with an a1c of 13. I was put on metformin 1000 twice a day and advised to change my diet and excercise more. They wanted to put me on insulin but I couldn't afford it. Lemme tell you how I beat it. I went down to one low fat, low carb meal a day in the evening and took my meds. I also walked 20 mins per day rain or shine. At first the hunger was hard to deal with but I didn't want to be on insulin, so I endured. 3 months later I had an a1c test and it was a 5.4. 3 months later its still 5.4 and my doctor, shocked, tells me my diabetes is cured and puts me on half meds to wean me off. If you have diabetes, you can do it too. Not saying this formula will work for everyone, but it worked for me. Any questions I'd be glad to answer. God be with everyone suffering this disease, my heart is with you too. Never eat a low fat diet. It's a good way to make your gallbladder form stones from non-use and then you'll end up having to need surgery to get it removed as the stones build up. Then you'll really be fucked as your body gets depleted of essentially fatty acids that you wont be absorbing ever. Did you read the thread? I eat a ribeye a week bro. Discomfort is a big motivator. Within a few months of eating right and taking care of himself, my hubby was not only off the Metformin, but also didn't need his blood pressure meds anymore either. The doctor weaned him off of both until my hubby didn't need any meds at all. |

Over time they will get larger until you feel like you're being stabbed in the stomach and keel over in pain. Eat the ribeye every day. |

Ironically, it made me sluggish and miserable...or did it? I've been on keto for a week and I feel fantastic. My head is so clear, it almost feels like a high. It's the all processed food and sugar. Low carb is good, but it means you have to get the right carbs or you will end up deficient. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 73848670 There is no requirement for carbs but there is for protein and fat. OP should go keto and eat more fat. There's lots of book and YouTubes out there. Check Dr Jason Fung's stuff. It starts decades before the diabetes diagnosis, from always eating carbs and not letting the blood sugar and insulin clear out of the system. Congratulations on beating the 'beetus'. |

It's been proven scientifically in modern times that you can downregulate insulin resistance through fasting. No need for metformin, not whatsoever. Another big pharma short cut. |

God be with everyone suffering this disease, my heart is with you too. My God, OP!! I was diagnosed "Diabetic" with an A1C of 8. My doctor originally put me on 500 mgs of Metformin. That was mostly doable for me. That helped to get my A1C down to 6.8. My doctor then put me on 1000 mgs of Metformin. I could not do 1000 mgs of Metformin. At 500 mgs of Metformin my digestive tract felt as though it was on fire, but not intensely enough for me to double over in frequent pain... and my bowel movements? Oh God, man! My BMs were so frequent and so painful that my anus would feel as though it was constantly white hot. I could not sit down properly and I had what felt like bad case of anal leakage the entire time I was on 1000 mgs of Metformin. My doctor finally took me off that crap and put me on something that starts with Glip, or something like that. It's not been bad, let alone anything that resembles Metformin Hell. As for your hunger, OP, yeah... I've learned to do something similar myself. I've learned to eat smaller portions and drink alot more water. Initially, eat large portions which is what you're accustomed to. Over time dwindle those portions bit by bit. Your stomach, not your belly, will begin to shrink. As your stomach shrinks your appetite will begin to diminish. As your appetite begins to diminish it'll stop becoming a seemingly constant hunger. As your hunger stops being a seeming constant hunger you'll begin to experience bouts of what you will inevitably wonder is healthy because you've been so fat so dang long you really have no concept of what's healthy and what is not. It's not as if many people will help you out without charging you an arm and a leg. The verbal, emotional, and even physical abuses you'll have to take from virtually anyone in real life for any help on trying to become healthy is unbearable. Most people nowadays are so fricken toxic. Stay strong, OP, and eventually you'll begin to live healthy and experience life as a healthy individual mind, body, and soul. The shameful thing about this country in specific is they are literally KILLING people that have this or signs of it by giving them murderous drugs. Drugs literally cannot cure this disease. It's as simple as a healthy life style, exercise and nutrition. THAT IS ALL IT IS. This is a fact. It boils down to your body being at a proper PH level between 7-14 (is ideal) and not being too acidic. The drugs don't work and they are killing people. The government, pharma, hospitals, doctor's are in on it. |

MAGA i agree with 95% of this... low carbs, high fat, grass fed beef, kerry gold butter, intermittent fasting and walk 110 miles a month... healthiest ive ever been. . There is different kinds of carbs. Potatoes and rice are both carbs but the body breaks them down into energy a lot easier than wheat based breads and pasta. Its simple really. To lose weight you simply stop ingesting dairy and fats.. I don't believe in the high protein high fat diet, it fucks you up long term.. Sure you might be skinny but you will probably end up with a massive coronary event at a younger age.. Yes, high fat is where the Atkins diet went wrong. My sister worked with Dr. Atkins and thought he was a quack. He bought vitamins wholesale for cheap and sold them to his patients $100 for a 1 month supply. Supplements that they could have bought at Sams Club for $25. I've had friends doing Atkins and they lost a few pounds but didn't get healthy. |
