Today's fruit is NOT the fruit of thousands of years ago. It has been heavily bred to be far sweeter than it was. Today's grain/bread is NOT the grain/bread of thousands of years ago. It has been heavily bred to have a very large kernel full of starch. The paleolithic populations that did have lots of fruit probably adapted to all those carbs anyways. There is a tribe in the Polynesians that eats lots of fruit but don't have diabetes like most people would. If anything the paleolithic people were eating lots of protein and fat and certainly not much fruit. Wild berries and nuts are somewhere in the middle. I eat no puffy bread like buns but I'll have a breakfast burrito with a tortilla. I just pick off the excess tortilla where it's double layered. Try the Jack in the Box "Meat Lovers Burrito". YUM. Quoting: ~Newton's Own~ I was diagnosed type 2 with an a1c of 13. I was put on metformin 1000 twice a day and advised to change my diet and excercise more. They wanted to put me on insulin but I couldn't afford it. Lemme tell you how I beat it. I went down to one low fat, low carb meal a day in the evening and took my meds. I also walked 20 mins per day rain or shine. At first the hunger was hard to deal with but I didn't want to be on insulin, so I endured. 3 months later I had an a1c test and it was a 5.4. 3 months later its still 5.4 and my doctor, shocked, tells me my diabetes is cured and puts me on half meds to wean me off. If you have diabetes, you can do it too. Not saying this formula will work for everyone, but it worked for me. Any questions I'd be glad to answer. God be with everyone suffering this disease, my heart is with you too. Never eat a low fat diet. It's a good way to make your gallbladder form stones from non-use and then you'll end up having to need surgery to get it removed as the stones build up. Then you'll really be fucked as your body gets depleted of essentially fatty acids that you wont be absorbing ever. Did you read the thread? I eat a ribeye a week bro. You need fat every day. It keeps the gall bladder healthy. |

Low carb is good, but it means you have to get the right carbs or you will end up deficient. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 73848670 Oh baby, I eat a grilled ribeye once a week, lol. My favorite day. Chuck roast is less expensive and a nice flavorful piece of beef because of the high fat content. Slice and pan sear like steak. Also part of what healed you was intermittent fasting, or one meal a day which allows your body to heal. "You can bend it and twist it... You can misuse and abuse it... I’ve lost about 70 pounds. A1C dropped from ~8 to as low as 4.4 (up to 4.8 the past 3 years). I typically eat one meal a day and most are low fat with adequate protein (.8 to 1 gram of protein per pound of lean body mass). I’ve been experimenting with a carnivore diet the past couple of months and have eschewed eating plants almost without exception. I’ve been eating a lot of ground bison and eggs lately. |

It could come back even if you continue to take care of yourself. That being said, that's fucking awesome and I'm happy for you. That is a sickness that can really shorten your life and cause several other issues. Taking pathophysiology and anatomy really scared the shit out of me. I lost 100 pounds, stopped drinking, and started excising hard. I would honestly cut ALL carbs from your diet too. I would even aim to cut meat from your diet as well. Don't take me wrong, I'm not talking shit. |

I also walked 20 mins per day rain or shine. Quoting: ~Newton's Own~ Ooops! Yeah, a low-carb diet will do it (like any severe calorie restriction diet) BUT you need to keep that fats high. With low-carb your body transitions to it's natural method of using fats for fuel rather than simple sugars. Without increasing fat calories you are just starving yourself. A PROPER low-carb (which includes higher good fats) is the only diet that is shown to reverse diabetes and fatty liver and a whole list of inflammatory conditions. Do some research. Watch some videos by Dr. Jason Fung (heavy on science) and Dr. Ken Berry (light on science) and you'll know more than most nutritional experts and establishment doctors. Make sure you look out for inflammatory ingredients added to food that you think is pure, like carrageenan added to organic heavy whipping cream so that they can lower the fat content and still get good whip. |

But yes, keto and intermittent fasting, and maybe a few 3-5 day fasts can fix many health conditions (electrolye supplementation takes a lot of the hunger away, look into snake juice). |
