Up until antibiotics were discovered most people died from infectious diseases like tuberculosis and the plague. The Black Plague was a one time ordeal. It was just a somewhat long lasting one time ordeal though. The Black Plague was the single greatest wonderful thing to happen to the European peasants too. The Black Plague led us to everything good and great about the Industrial Revolution. More than likely if the Black Plague did not happen we would still be under a strict European Feudalism to this very day.
