What teens want is something to use to relate to their peers He LOST HIS SPORTS FRIENDS - a way to relate - and a physical outlet He NEEDS a NEW IDENTITY in his peer group He suggested DRUMS Make a deal with him ... you will buy some drums ... he can help fix the basement and put up soundproofing panels in exchange for more drums Make SURE you have that place dried out so he doesn’t get black lung from black mold !!! Use big fans and a dehumidifier (get the one with a way to put a hose down the sump pump hole - or regret and have to empty once every summer day He needs to START NOW to learn so he can jam with friends while he is still in high school Get DRY-LOC and have him paint the basement walls - kills mold and waterproofs - get a 5gal bucket for a little over $100 - makes the basement look clean and bright - great if you ever want to sell Get the the DRUMS within your budget - and a new one for each birthday - mother of 3 boys |

That actually sounds like a great plan, and I appreciate the thought that went into this. Thankfully theres no mold. I dried the place out and had servpro come in and and do their thing. It's just expensive. 1500 sq feet, 2 bedrooms a full bath and living room and bar area. All new flooring has to be installed now. I'm doing that part myself. It's just expensive and time consuming. The reason it flooded was because my cousin who was living with us left his bedroom egress window cracked because he was smoking down there apparently, and the massive snow melt pushed it all in that window. Needless to say he isn't living with us anymore. Never be in a hurry; do everything quietly and in a calm spirit. As far as gift ideas go, get him something that will get him outdoors like a model rocket kit. He will get to build the models and then get to shoot them off, you can put cameras on board and the different models are endless. |

Texas Yellow Rose Colored Glasses... User ID: 77920649 United States 11/24/2019 07:21 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | He has one. He wants to move on to a real one that he can use in a band. Hes pretty good. I just have to soundproof the basement before I get him one. I'm all for personal growth with music and hobbies. It will happen within the next year, just for right now it's not feasible. Get him pro lessons where he can play on the real drums and practice at home on the electronic set. At the place here by my house they even let the kids come in for daily practice too... Or get him a drum pad, a DI box or an interface and he can experiment with different sounds, composing etc... If he's good at drums he might be good at bass guitar... Life is a spiritual war and no matter where we lay our head, we live in a warzone. There will be casualties. You do get to choose your side. I chose the Bright Side where my God fights for me. Others chose the Dark Side and fight for an entity that views them with disdain and discards them. |

Yes he's spoiled, but to be fair, his only job right now is to bring me good grades and make wise choices. He gets all A's with a sprinkle of B's, and so far hasn't brought the police to my door. Most of his electronics he has hes saved his money for and I matched it. He only gets to play them for an hour a day, and on the weekends. His laptop gets more screen time because he uses it for school. Never be in a hurry; do everything quietly and in a calm spirit. He could do it right on his phone or laptop. Then you can check out the list and pick a few things...would still be a surprise. I know he has video games, but what about the Playstation 4 w/ VR headset? |

User ID: 78197942 Taiwan 11/24/2019 11:09 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Interesting. I was going to suggest a drum set. It could totally change his path in life. Regarding noise... Aerodrums are silent and cost about 300USD. Lots of cool vids out there. The Pearl Traveller kit costs less than 200USD, and also sound good on youtube. You can play with brushes/hotrods, and get mutes to deal with the noise. Lots of options for making quiet drums. Daozen appears to be mentally impaired, but harmless. Attention! Might want to look around here too. How much are you willing to spend for a new build? Can also collect the parts till ready to assemble. [link to www.youtube.com (secure)] |

Took a class at school where he had to build one, and 4 months later I figured out what he was squirreling his allowance away for. My dad ended up matching him and helped him get all the parts. I haven't seen him game on it yet, but it's better than his laptop. I rarely get to use my desktop my daughter bogart's it whenever she gets the chance. But I'm ok with that. I'd rather I can see what shes doing. Shes in middle school now and surrounded by packs of wolves. They're all either gay, bi, or suicidal. Middle school is a damn roller coaster. The kids truly scare the crap out of me. Never be in a hurry; do everything quietly and in a calm spirit. They're virtually silent, he can play to favorite tunes, You Tube instruction videos, and you won't need ear plugs..! Here's a set I saw on EBAY... [link to www.ebay.com (secure)] |
