One time when I had no idea what to get the kiddo for Christmas I found a little fender guitar. No idea if it was any good but I had fun tuning and playing Johnny be good Christmas Eve. Just needed something under the tree. I bought random CDs and sheet music too. Like a sampling of electric guitar styles. Because...at some point they have everything and it’s too late to claim some different religion to get out of it. |

And like the OP has already pointed out several times, the kid already has a set. Piercing my heart there is a golden dagger; that is God Piercing God's heart there is a golden needle; that is me |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 77976648 New Zealand 11/25/2019 02:09 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My son usually always asks for expensive gifts. This year hes asked for a drum set. Which.. is NOT going to happen. It will eventually, but not until I can soundproof a bedroom in the basement. But that can't happen until I can afford it since the basement was flooded this past spring and I've been slowly replacing all the flooring and paying for the repairs has been outrageously expensive. Quoting: Brandywine He's a good kid. Likes video games, has basically all the electronics available. Laptop, xbox, switch, etc. Gets good grades, isn't a snowflake, not entitled. He recently found out he has Marfans Syndrome so he cant compete in sports anymore, so he's devastated about that. He cant even ride his bike until his doc says it's ok. I feel horrible. I'm just at a loss right now as to what to get him. I've gotten him his smaller gifts that I normally get. Pajamas, clothes, funny socks, but I always get one more expensive gift. I hate gift cards, they take no thought and are impersonal. Plus... I'm a female. When you were 15, what made you happy? Help! latest iphone/android yep will cost you a grand. get-it. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 40546062 United States 11/25/2019 02:16 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I'm glad my mom got me a drum set when I was 15 as it brought me more joy than any gift at that time and now many years later as a pro sound engineer and pro drummer my life long career started with my 1st drum set. I suggest NEVER put off purchasing any musical instruments if a kid ask. being a musician can give a teen something constructive to do, truly helps with self confidence and musical talent needs to be developed in those teen years not something to put off till a basement is finished. I suggest buy him a nice $300 - $400 set of electronic drums and a good set of headphones and then finish the basement. pay for some lessons or school band as well. Drums is what made me happy at 15 for sure. Support your little guy and be his biggest fan. |

Ax throwing sounds fun. My cousin IS legally blind and she does archery. There’s martial arts that aren’t necessarily aerobic. There’s always yoga but that may be an uncool mom thing to kids. Pilates is GREAT, requires no equipment and may be marketed to young men. My favorite Christmas presents were always books. Is Marfans what Abe Lincoln has? It’s associsted with melancholy. A meditative movement sport might be really good. If he’s going to be off the bike for and off sports for a while he really needs something new to get into. He really wants the drum kit! Get yourself a noise blocking estate and give the kid what he wants. A stack of glossy new books on tai chi yoga chingong Pilates is what I want, Santa. |

A golden Lab, but find one that is already trained and ask someone who is good with dogs if they will give him further lessons on how to train the dog almost as a companion dog...it will help him make friends if he has a good dog with a harness and leash by his side, and the dog himself will be a friend. amdg Forgiveness means giving up every hope for a better past, In exchange for a better future. Yes Abe Lincoln was said to have marfans. As well as the man who played Chewbacca. He may one day be able to work his heart out, but not right now. He is most likely going to need surgery to strengthen his aortic wall. His heart has to work extremely hard to get blood to where is has to go. His limbs are too long, and his connective tissues tear too easily. It's a connective tissue disorder. Which means anything and everything in his body is liable to break and tear at any moment. Hos doctor told him to live each day as if it were his last, and enjoy it as much as he can. With beta blockers he can live a normal life span, so not to worry. But worry is all I can do. Never be in a hurry; do everything quietly and in a calm spirit. Do not lose your inner peace for anything whatsoever, even if your whole world seems upset. ~Saint Francis de Sales To keep the body in good health is a duty... otherwise we shall not be able to keep our mind strong and clear. ~Buddha |

Batman is cool
User ID: 77994325 United States 11/28/2019 07:22 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Some of you people are bad examples. Quoting: Batman is cool You can always count on my ideas Brandy. :) Freshman year 2007.... my desktop computers still to this day. Might want to look around here too. How much are you willing to spend for a new build? Can also collect the parts till ready to assemble. [link to www.youtube.com (secure)] Hey Batman! Believe it or not he just built his first rig! Took a class at school where he had to build one, and 4 months later I figured out what he was squirreling his allowance away for. My dad ended up matching him and helped him get all the parts. I haven't seen him game on it yet, but it's better than his laptop. I rarely get to use my desktop my daughter bogart's it whenever she gets the chance. But I'm ok with that. I'd rather I can see what shes doing. Shes in middle school now and surrounded by packs of wolves. They're all either gay, bi, or suicidal. Middle school is a damn roller coaster. The kids truly scare the crap out of me. Wonder if there is a computer part he can upgrade? If you go to this site you can figure out the price of the machines if you know what the parts are. [link to pcpartpicker.com (secure)] If I want to play a new game I run this scanner to see if I am able to play it or not. Take the new cod for example. When it shows you the final results it will tell you some information that it can run on minimum or recommended specs. Recommended tab tells you what really needs to be upgraded for a game.. Use the information given and try to make a list of it from pcpartpicker. Make sure to save the list and make an account there too. Also a good thing about the partpicker is it will say if the build list is compatible or not. If you run the 'steam' app and then go to the 'help' drop down menu and click on system information it'll show the specs there too. [link to www.systemrequirementslab.com (secure)] Used to be where I had to guess how much power supply wattage I needed. Well I am 200watts above the recommended for my build thanks to this website. I usually go for the 80 plus gold power efficiency rating. So today I would need just 650watts instead of 850watts. [link to outervision.com (secure)] All this is pretty fun if you know what you are doing. Sorry if its a lot to take in. Try this on your desktop first for practice. |
