Why do Catholics believe that Mary has Super Powers?

Mary is special because God exalted her and chose Her to be the Mother of the Savior. We love and honor Her because Jesus loves and honors Her. We address prayers to Her because She has Her Son’s ear like no other...just as a Queen Mother would have had with her son, the king, in biblical times. We call her our Mother because Jesus symbolically gave Her to us when he commended her to the care of John the Apostle in John 19:26-27:

When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple there whom he loved, he said to his mother, “Woman, behold, your son.” Then he said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother.” And from that hour the disciple took her into his home.

In Luke 1:28 the Angel Gabriel greets Mary with the words, “Hail, full of grace”, or “Hail, highly favored one”, depending on the translation.

In Luke 1:46-55, Mary praises God in what is commonly known as the Magnificat prayer:

And Mary said: My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior; Because He has regarded the lowliness of His handmaid; for behold, henceforth all generations shall call me blessed; Because He who is mighty has done great things for me, and Holy is His Name; And His mercy is from generation to generation on those who fear Him. Mary is also the Woman of Revelation.

Because Catholicism is based on the old Pagan Pantheon with a new age Christo spin. Their Gods became the saints, and the Queen of Heaven, often times referred to as Ishtar, and other names, as well as being depicted in times of old as holding a son (not Jesus) has been replaced by the Virgin Mary. But many of the old ceremonies and connotations are held today, and the similarities between Ishtar and Mary, are scary. A Goddess of Fertility, that is still worshiped today.
