They hunt hogs here in S Florida. I know several peps who do.

They use Catahoula dogs(which I have one as my best friend), to flush the hogs out, then a group of 3 pits bring them into manageable position for the gun to do its work.

The dogs all wear kevlar vests. and rarely get really hurt.

The hogs...not so much.

Don't find yourself between a rattle snake and a feral hog. That's the only thing they do good besides fill my belly.

You should ask Merit about his idea to keep me safe from wild hogs on a property I wanted him to buy. It was out in the country and I expressed concern about being harassed by wild hogs while he is at work or hogs wrecking the garden and he came up with a plan.

Accidentally. They rarely attack humans especially by a house but they are WILD pack mentality animals that will literally eat anything bones and all.

We have a wild pig problem with rewilding in the Forest of Dean in the UK.. I was kinda interested in hunting one until I saw a couple of videos.... I'll probably have a go with a spear, but a big Bowie knife? Not a chance. I wanna eat it and test myself a bit by hunting it with a bit of honour, I don't want to end up in intensive care for what's essentially some nice sausages.

Some of those hunters are more dangerous to each other than the hogs themselves.

We live in the midst of many hog confinement buildings in rural Iowa. Custom feeding is the new money maker. We’ve seen dead hogs on the roads, that have escaped. Hogs are very intelligent. The only domesticated animal that can reason. They can be toilet trained in 2 weeks, smarter than the average dog. They are nothing to mess with.

You right on all counts. Smartest animals I ever worked around. A dog would starve and thirst to death before it learned to use the things domestic hogs do to eat and drink.

So smart they can go feral virtually over night.

Most hogs are shot and left where they lay.

If someone plans on eating a hog they usually trap it and grain feed it a few days so the meat tastes a bit better.

You seem to have bias against Texans. Real world, a woman died. The community (made up of people with thoughts and emotions) would be upset by this and likely organize a hunt to take out as many hogs as they can in the area. And no, they will not eat them.

And ranchers do let people they know hunt hogs on their properties - for free, or even pay them. I have gone hunting a number of times on a friend of a friends ranch doing that. But they don't want strangers on their land shooting up the place killing whatever moves. Rules were simple - No drinking til afterwards, No AR's, AK's or rifles since his property was not that large, bring 4 wheelers back in 1 piece.
