Cruelty to animals is now a federal crime under a new law signed by President Trump Monday.

The Preventing Animal Cruelty and Torture Act (PACT) is a bi-partisan initiative that bans the intentional crushing, burning, drowning, suffocating, impalement or other serious harm to "living non-human mammals, birds, reptiles, or amphibians."..........

I will be quite frank about this. All...all life is precious. All!

I’ve had a conscientious dilemma about this also. Here I’m Eating meat. I know there are exceptions. I think there are exceptions. Have I been cruel? Man has eaten meat forever..doesn’t make it right. I’ve been getting closer and closer to plant based foods. I will never eat pork again. Beef..once in a great while..but I saw a movie last month that tore my heart out. A cow was thrown into a deep pit, the farmer was hiding a evil deed and dropped a cow on top of his dead wife. The poor cow cried. It’s legs were crushed. Then the evil farmer shot it. That was it.

Same thing the Feds did with the "Patriot Act" and "Sex Offender Registry," just more excuses to monitor and surveil the population.

Bow hunting has just become illegal.

If you take this at face value.

Step 1 in making hunting illegal.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 72530568

havent you heard of a rifle?
 Quoting: lurcher1

Coming from a Brit - that's laughable.
Or are you too stupid to understand my comment?
In the bill it is illegal to impale an animal.
That's exactly what bow hunting is.
Step 1 to banning hunting - make it illegal to impale an animal.
Next step - animal rights activists use this law to charge bow hunters with cruelty.
Next step - all hunting is deemed 'trauma' and hunting is banned.
May take years, but TPTB work in small steps.

I am a Trump fan - search out my posts - but this is a mistake.

*******************

THANK YOU PRESIDENT TRUMP. ***I am 77 years of age, and been in active ANIMAL RESCUE for ten years. Three months ago I rescued a pregnant Mama cat who gave birth to four lovely babies two weeks later in my home!!!Had I not seen her in the blackberry bushes, scared to death, and gotten her out, all the babies would have SUFFERED and died. Her also. There is so much ANIMAL ABUSE that it's about time the LAW has some sharp teeth put to it. **Yep, let the abuser suffer if they cause helpless animals to suffer.** I have rescued MANY cats and kittens, and I thank God I got each one into a home or good shelter.

Great, now anyone with a dog can be sent to federal prison for any reason.

Glad I don't own a dog.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 71632887

Who exactly is going to adopt a ton of dogs off the streets and take care of them when the Federal government is hanging Federal Prison over their heads?

I spoke to someone a few months ago about these idiotic bills. Whos going to risk their lives and millions of dollars to adopt dogs now?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 71632887

I didn't realise dog adoption & rescue involved intentionally crushing, burning, drowning, suffocating, impaling, or seriously harming them. Are you really this stupid?
 Quoting: XeroGravity

Of course it does, what happens if they adopt 100 dogs a week to SAVE DOGS and all of a sudden dog food prices increase 10% over a week. They can only afford 90 dogs. 10% of the 100 dogs they SAVED are starving and are being "seriously harmed". So, the Federal Government with it's infinite wisdom in Washington, DC gets a report from some random person, they barge into the RESCUE, charge them with 10 felonies of animal abuse and the person who is RESCUING a 100 dogs and RISKING THEIR own lives to take care of them...is now looking at a MINIMUM of several hundred grand to defend themselves in court (which they are GUARANTEED to lose) and a 100 years in jail!

So, who is GOING TO RESCUE DOGS with that much risk?

Do you clueless people not understand that DOG RESCUES are a BUSINESS? E.G. at a MINIMUM they charge enough to cover their expenses to RESCUE ANIMALS. Whether they are rich or poor, this bill will PUT SOO MUCH RISK ON ANYONE WHO WANTS TO RESCUE DOGS, THEY WILL LIKELY ALL QUIT!

I have worked with a shelter. They take donations... when they need something like food, which never happens, they put out the call on FB and it's done. Most calls for help are for surgeries for dogs who were injured or have some genetic issue. If a dog has issues that can't be helped and is suffering it's humanely put down.

I completely disagree with Roe vs Wade as it was a completely fabricated Supreme Case. E.G. I'm completely anti-abortion.

Here's the problem, the Supreme Court ALMOST never reviews old cases. The likely-hood that a completely conservative court will ROLL-BACK women thinking murder is ok, is almost zero. Every woman who thinks murder is ok, because of a fabricated case, would cause so much havoc for a case review of murdering children, the Supreme Court NEVER reviews OLD CASES.

THE ONLY WAY TO STOP UNETHICAL WOMEN FROM MURDERING THE UNBORN ISN'T OVERTURNING ROE VS. WADE. It's to make them responsible for their own choices (e.g. ending the welfare state) a MUCH BIGGER CUT TO the size and role of government.

Good. Some acts are downright horrible.

All sadists and psychopaths are intentionally cruel to animals.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78191676

In my late 50's and one thing i have found is those who can be mean to animals and don't like them are people you want to stay away from.
Those who truly love animals make great friends and ones you can trust.
This has been my experience and i guess this is the reason as a child i hung around with the animals on the farm instead of people cuz humans were unstable and half of them just down right mean.
This is the only good thing i have seen the donald do since being in office so good on him because i put him at the same level as hillery and bill but this puts him ABOVE them!
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77978737

This is dumb. Cursed be the man who trusts in another man. Only a fool would trust another human just because he can pretend that a dumb beast is his friend. Same stupid people who think dogs or cats are part of their "family". This country has been wealthy for way too long...the emotional instability is insane.
