Why not use your charming personality instead, to open up new lines of discussion and offer new information to challenge those MSM-manufactured attitudes so many people think they have and never bothered to scrutinize? You could enjoy your gathering amongst new converts instead of adversaries.

Since the thread topic is based upon IF they start any shit with you about politics - and not if they don't - do you plan to ask to see everybody's voting cards before you sit down with them? I do always carry mine, of course, in case I see an opportunity to show Republican support in a heavily Democrat district but not everybody does.

You can always make a large pan of pot-laced brownies, taking care that the more cantankerous in the bunch get extra helpings and political arguments, or anything else people like to fight about, might not ever become an issue at all. :)
