They are not 'fleeing'. Quoting: Moon&Stars Only 3 people have been injured, no fatalities. The plume is 2 thousand feet up. The wind direction change expected will pull the plume towards the north which is less populated. Rain is expected which will dissipate some of the plume. Where do you get info on wind direction pulling it to north? It is expected to go west towards Houston starting tomorrow. FYI, Houston is way more populated than the wind blowing it Southwest into the Gulf of Mexico (GoM). Black Friday with all the shoppers out, wind blowing due west straight into Houston from Neches. [link to windalert.com (secure)] Local news Houston, with reporters on the scene in Port Neches. Right now the plume is being carried towards the coast, with wind direction swinging it for a short time west and around to a northward direction tomorrow - local weather and wind forecast. FYI, I grew up near the coast about 30 miles southwest of there, and now live in Houston. I've known people who work those plants all of my life, including my step dad, and many of our neighbors. The chemical industry can be dangerous. That's just how it is. That's not just how it is and this is why regulations are required and enforcement is required. I worked in Oil & Gas 5 years, 80% of my function for the OEM I worked for was helping our clients maintain certification of their equipment. It is cost of doing business and shit companies shortcut that cost. All pressure containing equipment had to be certified every 5 years. Guess what? Employees of those companies where supportive of this because they didn't want to get killed because of crap equipment. Half of the tower that exploded was launched skyward. What is left is over half the height of the electrical transmission tower. The tower that blew was therefore between 250 and 300 feet tall, considering it was farther away from the camera, making it appear smaller. |

Good in general that this happened in fall since we get northwesterly minds much more during this time. trolls vs bots - we live in a scifi world |

Pretty odd isn't it that people who live across the highway got video immediately as it was happening. Damn, how does that shit happen? There were probably some indications that the facility was having some major issues. People will place themselves in harm's way to be the first to post a youtube vid. I saw a report from CH. 12 out of Beaumont interviewing residents who lived right across from the plant whose front windows were blown out. But yes, there were probably early signs of trouble. There are shacks/offices onsite where everything is monitored. News crews would have been alerted if there was a hint of anything happening. Moonstar |

They are the people that cause this. Ironically they are the ones that should be accountable. Quoting: Kataklysm 77489195 True, so very true. Maintenance budgets are always the 1st to get cut. I worked for a German company for 7 years and they were very big on maintenance. If a machine went down unexpectedly, that was a huge deal. Periodic maintenance, inventory of spares was very important. You want to see the real quality of an operation, go to their maintenance shop first. trolls vs bots - we live in a scifi world |

It may have been your acquaintance in the interview. Their front door had been blown open, and their front windows broken. The windows looked like the hurricane storm type - the entire frames were blown into their living room. Moonstar |
