Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 41464541 Finland 12/01/2019 09:22 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | What's her family history? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77999704 Divorced parents? No role models for a successful relationship? Yes, mother (now deceased) had kids to different dads. Her own dad was absent. Umm, also mentioned something about some woman molesting her when she was a young girl. Maybe this could explain a few things? I’m not sure. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 71693271 United States 12/01/2019 09:26 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Because she told me this directly. I know her quite well, as we meet up in a group now and then for drinks. I never pursued anything in the past because I was in a committed relationship. However, I suppose I’m just quite baffled - she’s stunningly beautiful model looking girl, and also well educated and cool to be around, yet she is still pining over this guy - a guy who said those things about her, and told her directly he wanted someone else so dumped her (if you can call a long distance date an ex). She seems to always go for long distance relationships with guys who are penniless students. A few turned out to be clinically diagnosed with mental problems. She could probably get any guy she wants, but always picks losers who dump her. I guess I’ll just have to let this one go. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 41464541 If that's the case, then maybe your chances are quite good! It's not a 'love affair' with that guy she 'can't get over,' but the insults and blow to her pride instead! If she'd only beaten him up thoroughly for all the insults, she'd have 'got closure,' (don't you love these stupid modern terms?) and would be feeling much better now. If a good beat-down or other satisfying form of revenge is not practical to arrange, you can now get to work soothing her wounded ego and affirming her worthiness for something much better - i.e.: you. Don't give up too soon. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 76842482 United States 12/01/2019 09:34 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | She was in a long distance relationship with him for a few months, and only saw him a few times (because of distance). He dumped her and pursued some Spanish teacher. This was Summer last year he dumped her, yet she still pines for this guy day and night. He’s painfully skinny, 5ft5, penniless student and no confidence. WTF?! I’m 6ft2, better looking, decent job, yet she can’t get over this guy after, literally, long distance dating him for a few months. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 41464541 What gives? How can she not get over a long distance date after, like, 19 months? The guy is obviously hung like a horse. He probably showed her over Skype or something, and now she can't get over him. Can confirm- midget was prolly hung like a mule, she dotes evermore for his length & girth. |

But it’s been 19 months, and still posting love songs with lyrics that pertain to her love for him. I just didn’t want to get pushy, so decided to just severe ties with her, and told her to maybe contact me sometime when she feels ready. That was that, and haven’t heard from her in three or so weeks. Shame... she does seem like she has many good qualities too, but perhaps she might be a narcissist who has attachment issues + a fragile ego, hence still feeling damaged 19 months on. |

I'm willing to bet the 'Spanish midget' was a pushy little bastard! Little guys quite often are, they get that Napoleon complex to make up for being a shrimp. Stop worrying about that crap and show your feelings! That and only that will get her attention. Stop trying to talk yourself out of this with a 'sour grapes' litany; you don't mean any of it and you know it. Over-analyzing all by yourself doesn't get you anywhere nearer the truth of things; if you want answers, ask for them outright. |

They consider themselves to be models of perfection, and all others lacking. Seriously, OP, it sounds like she has serious self esteem issues, and tries to prove her worth through academic/professional accomplishment, BUT -- she only feels "loved" when she is mistreated. Something happened early on to imprint on her brain that abuse = love. She is a fragile heart, but she does not realize this -- yet. I guess I’ll just have to let her go and deal with her issues. It sucks, but it is what it is. |
