GOP Rep. Duncan Hunter, an early Trump supporter, will plead guilty to campaign finance violations, resign from Congress
Republican Rep. Duncan Hunter of San Diego, California, one of President Donald Trump's earliest backers in his presidential campaign, will plead guilty to at least one count of misusing campaign funds.

After the Federal Election Commission launched an investigation in 2016, Hunter was indicted two years later on accusations of misusing $250,000 in campaign funds for personal expenses — such as groceries, video games, expensive meals, and visits to their family dentist. His trial was scheduled for January 22, 2020.

"That's not going to happen now," Hunter said in an interview with KUSI on Tuesday.

Hunter said he was pleading guilty to prevent the trial from going public due to family reasons.

According to the indictment, the allegations claim that he and his wife, Margaret, "knowingly conspired with each other" to convert campaign funds "for their own personal benefit and enjoyment."

Margaret, who was the campaign chairwoman, already pleaded guilty and consented to testifying against Hunter.

Prosecutors also alleged the two denigrated the military and masked their personal spending under the guise of gifts for wounded veterans. During a trip to Hawaii in 2015, Hunter, a former US Marine officer, allegedly told Margaret he planned "to buy my Hawaii shorts" but had run out of money. Margaret advised him to buy the shorts at a golfing gear shop so they could later describe the sale as "some [golf] balls for the wounded warriors," the indictment said.

Not only that, the sleazy, corrupt grifter had affairs in DC with five different women and was charged with using campaign funds to pay for his dates, including hotels, bars, food and even Uber rides.

Judge Says Trump Must Pay $2 Million Over Misuse Of Foundation Funds

A New York judge has ruled that President Trump must pay $2 million in damages to settle claims that the Trump Foundation misused funds. The money will go to a group of charities, and the foundation is in the process of dissolving.

The case is tied to a televised fundraiser for veterans held by Trump in Iowa when he was running for president in January 2016. Trump had said the funds raised would be distributed to charities. But according to court documents, the Trump Foundation improperly used $2.82 million it received from that fundraiser.

"The Trump Foundation has shut down, funds that were illegally misused are being restored, the president will be subject to ongoing supervision by my office, and the Trump children had to undergo compulsory training to ensure this type of illegal activity never takes place again," said the New York Attorney.

The Trump Foundation agreed to dissolve last December in the face of an investigation from then-New York Attorney General Barbara Underwood. She accused the foundation of a broad pattern of illegal activity, including improper political activities and "repeated and willful self-dealing transactions."

House Ethics Committee informs Duncan Hunter he can no longer vote after guilty plea

The House Ethics Committee Thursday informed Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-Calif.) that he can no longer vote in the House of Representatives after pleading guilty to misusing campaign funds.

The ethics panel sent Hunter a letter telling him that his guilty plea triggered a House rule saying that any member convicted of a crime that could receive a prison sentence of two or more years “should refrain from voting on any question at a meeting of the House…unless or until judicial or executive proceedings result in reinstatement of the presumption of innocence…or until the Member is reelected to the House after the date of such conviction.”

Hunter, who changed his plea in federal court in San Diego Tuesday, faces up to five years in prison and is scheduled to be sentenced on March 17. He was present for votes on Wednesday but did not vote on Thursday

Turns out saying "witch hunt" and "fake news" doesnt work very well when they have you in a real court.

Trump is NEVER going to testify. He will pretend and say he wants to testify..but he never will. He will talk himself into a jail cell.
