I once read from someone who claimed to be "in the know" that the government censors or does not permit satellite imagery (beyond a very low resolution) above a certain parallel, both north and south. If I remember correctly, the parallel numer was something like 70th or 80th. (I think I read this info here, or on a similar site).
Has anyone here heard or read something similar about a secret ban on north pole/south pole satellite photos? I think I remember this source stating that in the arctic/antarctic treaties there was some stipulation about this.
Anyway, I have not had much luck when I've tried to find out more about this, hoping someone here might know something.
Quoting: Censored by TPTB 78214731 Most satellites fly over the population centers. Simply, no one lives at the north or south poles. There are some newer satellites that are environmental payloads that have polar orbits.
