Protecting kids - advice
I have two great kids that are young and still innocent. How do I preserve that these days? I want them to do sleep overs, Boy Scouts/Girl scouts and everything but I can’t trust anyone. I already live in a nice area. I don’t have the time to run every extracurricular activity and my wife stays at home. Is there a solution beyond over protecting them? I don’t want to do that either I let them take plenty of risks under my watch.

Re: Protecting kids - advice
Tell them about all the bad things that can happen in this world.

Be honest, give examples, take questions.

I did not let my girls go on sleep overs until they were 8.

I felt they were aware enough at that age.

Also you can give them a cell phone to keep in a bag if they need to call you.

Instruct, instruct, instruct.

Kids are smart if you inform them of stuff.

Teach them right and you will sleep well.

You know your kids more than anyone else.

I know how ya feel tho.

Have a great night.

Re: Protecting kids - advice
keep them out of the culture

don't let other kids get to them

this is the end

it sounds crazy

because sanity has been turned 180 degrees

if you are sane and good

you are treated as an insane criminal

What? You are against dressing your son as a female?

Damn you!

What? You are against turning your daughter into a whore?

Damn you! Criminal! Child abuser!

They will never be socialized if you don't turn them over to the pedophiles!

STAY OUT OF PUBLIC SCHOOLS

and all other institutions of this world

if you turn them out into the world

and by the way

I live by my words.

I will not give details, but I have succeeded in this.

So I know that I am right.

You have to be extreme and extremely smart about it because there are a lot of scumbags who are out to thwart you.

Re: Protecting kids - advice
99% impossible today OP. I think you realize this already but in a last ditch effort you made a thread.

In truth, the only way to do it is to live away from society..perhaps in a mini tribe. If you're in suburbia USA, it's over. When the kid turns 10-12, they'll demand a phone. You'll stay strong at first and say no but will eventually cave in. Then the pron watching & social media hypnosis will arrive. They will zombifiy in from over your very eyes.

There are people in this society who purposefully train their own kids to teach all forms of sex to other kids. And they are aided and abetted by the entertainment industry and the education complex. This is by design.

I believe it and I live it.

That is/was my advice for the OP.

Your negative ass can go bye bye tho.

You are very very wrong.

But you won't see it that way.

So I don't even know why you wasted your time trying to be a dickhead to me.

Nobody will ever change my ways.

They are good and that's a fact.

Good grief. We went through the same turmoil. Freedom or helicopter?

I have 2 daughters who we cherish.

There's a fine line between being an overbearing parent and one who is an anything goes type, you are not alone.

We were very consistent with making sure they understood right from wrong first and foremost.

We helped with homework but made sure they understood it was their responsibility to get it done regardless of our input. If they needed help, they got it!

To shadow them is to deprive them of good coping skills in their dealings with others as life progresses and it is the hardest thing to do as a parent in letting go a bit.

The mean streets are there and you cannot protect them from that so you must give them the skills required to survive those mean streets.

Kids are a lot tougher than you think if given the opportunity to prove it.

18 yr old kids fought and destroyed whole armies in WW2 so don't think your kids can't!

Re: Protecting kids - advice
I think the best thing you can teach a child these days is to question everything. Never accept anything at face value especially when something like a certain narrative is obviously being pushed from all directions. Also, teach them to be the best observer of others they can possibly be. Tell them to watch other people very closely and the decisions they make, specifically to see how those decisions turn out. Teach them to avoid mistakes in their own lives by noticing the consequences of them in the lives of other people so they don't need to end up living those consequences themselves.

Don't spend too much time trying to protect their eyes from seeing or hearing what is out there, teach them how to live and function in the midst of it. Don't preach too much, because children naturally rebel against being told what is. Ask them questions and talk with them about troubling events that come up in daily life. Listen to how they are interpreting the event and then ask them questions to get them thinking about a different healthier perspective. That way they feel the understanding coming from within themselves instead of coming down from an authority figure. If you completely protect/isolate them now, they will just end up shell shocked when they leave home and have total freedom handed to them and the world hits them in the face.

Also, help inspire and support them in any aspect of life they are interested in which will give them more independence, skill, and self-sufficiency from the government, a future employer, a technology, or other people.

why the necessity for sleep overs ?
for what ?
better to keep informed on what's going on over at the schoolhouse in keeping them innocent as the crap they introduce/already are cramming into them are never "age appropriate""
and not that long ago would be classified as PORN.
simply tell them that their underwear area is off limits and how to deal w/it,
IF in a grammar sch/kindergarten/pre-k setting, find out what their rules are for the bathrooms, any supervision, who supervises, do they have a "buddy system " things like that and keep your family photos and theirs OFF social mediyuuh.

Thanks for the responses everyone. I like the advice of teaching them to question everything, that’s how I was raised and it kept me pretty straight. Also spot on with the phones once they have those my influence will be gone.

I feel like they are going to be pulled into all the madness and I don’t know how to stop it.
