Wow! Great find OP! That is a brilliant piece of engineering.

I actually suspect this same device existed in the ancient world, except in larger scale (like a ballista). The Roman's had a secret weapon called a "Scorpion" which baffles the scholars. They carefully guarded it's design but from the descriptions it sounded like a ballista that could rapidly nock bolts. I tried to imagine in my mind how it worked & came up with a design similar to what this guy did.

With that pull you could make the bow much more powerful. Could design it with multi bows multi triggers with one pull. Some sort of timed release you could have machine gun bow.

I think a cylinder feed with a coil spring would allow for higher capacity of bolts.
